The story takes place 100 years after the Rockman X series, the star is Zero, and his nemesis is...Rockman X?? O_o Actually the main nemesis is something called Omega, but I won't go any deeper into that...

This is without a doubt the best GBA game I've played up until this day. The visuals are excellent, the animation in some areas are super, and the music is just great. Really restored my faith in GBA music. You've got your basic Rockman X flavor here, you can still dash and kick off of walls, but from there it's new. You can gain up to 4 different main weapons. You start with a simple gun, but can get Zero's sword, a shield, and a triple rod. You can select a primary and secondary weapon. The primary is used through the regular attack button, and the secondary can be used through the same attack button by also holding "L". Sure beats going through the menus. Unlike the usual Rockman tradition, the bosses here don't leave you new powers. Infact, there are only 3 powers in the whole game to get; electricity, fire, and ice. These can give your weapons the element boost of the element you choose, and naturally some bosses are particuarly weak against certain combinations. Each of the four main weapons can grow through use, and each time one levels up it gains a new feature. For example, get Zero's saber to level 2, and now you can perform a quick 2 hit combo. Level 3, a 3 hit combo. 4, a spinning air slash, etc...

There is another factor in the game; Cyber Elves. They're everywhere, but usually pop out of a defeated enemy, sometimes even bosses. There are 3 variations, Nurse, Battle, and Hacking. Nurse elves can restore your health or provide subtanks, Battle elves help you attack in various ways, and Hackers can change the stages like removing all the spikes, etc... Honestly, I don't know much about the elves because I've been able to get through the game without using any of them. I'll have to do some research as there could be some cool effects I'm missing out on. I highly recommend this game if you're into the old school action/platformers.
