New York Islanders
MY 3 STARS

#27 - Mike Peca
Previously the captain of the Buffalo Sabres, Peca filled the same role well on his first year with the Islanders. He is an excellent defensive forward who is tough, honourable, and hard to keep down.

#35 - Chris Osgood
After winning 2 cups with Detroit, Osgood comes to the Islanders with a good amount of playoff experience. He has a full stand-up style of play, and is an aggressive challenger to shooters.

#20 - Steve Webb
Although not a significant points contributor, Steve Webb helps out by providing massive checks to the other team's players. His slam-bang style of hockey made the Islanders series against Toronto very fun to watch.

A Breif History PlayersPlayers Coaching & ManagementCoaching & Management
Often called "the other New York team" (the N.Y. Rangers are an "Original Six" team), the Islanders were added to the NHL in 1972-73 during the second wave of expansions. After a shaky start, the club had a surprising winning streak in the early `80's. With players such as Mike Bossy and Bryan Trottier, the Isles captured 4 cups from 1980 to 1983, and were on their way to a fifth in 1984 when they lost to the Edmonton Oilers.
In addition to their cups, they have 6 Patrick Division titles, as well as 2 Clarence Campbell and 3 Prince of Wales Conference titles.
