MY 3 STARS
|
#60 - José Théodore
The hottest young goalie this year, José was on fire during the playoffs,
making save after amazing save. Instrumental in keeping the top-seeded Boston
Bruins at bay, Théodore has a very promising career ahead of him.
|
#93 - Doug Gilmour
An old favourite from the Leafs, Gilmour came to Montréal on a one-year trial
contract this season. He proved to be a worthy addition to the team, as he
scored many goals and showed much-needed leadership.
|
#11 - Saku Koivu
After returning from a bout with cancer late in the season, Koivu wasted no
time showing that he was ready to go during the playoffs, racking up 10 points
over the first 2 rounds.

Coaching & Management
One of the "Original Six" teams, and one of the four
Canadian teams to first make up to NHL, the Montréal Canadiens are one of
Canada's oldest hockey clubs. The has won an astounding 24 cups during its
history, and has included such hockey greats as Guy Lafleur, Jacques Plante,
and Patrick Roy. The team has remained the Montréal Canadiens since before they
first joined the NHL in 1917-18.
The 24 cups that Montréal has won span their entire history.
They have often had multiple cup streaks, and have not gone more than 13 years
without winning. Their cups include '24, '30-'31, '44, '46, '53, '56-'60,
`65-`66, `68-`69, `71, `73, `76-`79, `86, and `93. They have been cup finalists
8 other times. In addition, they won a pre-NHL cup in 1916 and were finalists
in 1917. The Canadiens have been point leaders 32 times, including 5 Canadian,
2 East, 6 Norris, and 5 Adams Division titles. They have also been Prince of
Wales Conference champs 7 times.
