Official Dreamcast Magazine #6

After playing the Vol. 5 demo disc with it's slew of great demo games, I was expecting Vol. 6 to deliver as well. But instead we get a bunch of average demos.

Silver
In this RPG, a decree was made that all the women in the land were to be gathered up and sent to emperor Silver so he can choose a wife. The demo starts out as lord Fuge and his troops just departed there ship and has begun to gather the women. Then that's where you begin as David, the game starts with a little tutorial with his grandfather ( who looks crazy o_O;; ). After your finish with that, David's girlfriend was taken away by lord Fuge and his troops, and that's where the action begins. The game is not that really good with it's small characters and odd battle system, the best way I can describe the graphics is that it kinda looks like Final Fantasy VII. It seems more suited as a PC game ( which it is also ).

Demo Rating - 4/10

Fur Fighters
In this cool action-platformer you play as a bunch of hip looking animals, the Furfighters and you must save your families from the evil general Viggo. In this demo you start out in some sort of construction site and are face up against bears, peacocks and polar bears. At the beginning you can only pick one character, but during the game you can change characters so you can get over certain obstacles. There's also 3 baby animals hidden somewhere in the stage and you have to be a certain character to get to them ( example: Roofus is a dog and he can only get the babies that are pups ). You move your character using the a,b,x,y buttons ( ala MDK 2 ) so it takes awhile to get the hang of it. There's also a fluffmatch ( deathmatch ) also if you want to duke it out with another player. This is one of the better demos one the disc and you'll have fun with it for a while.

Railroad Tycoon 2
Yes it's a train simulation.....got a problem with that? In this demo you can manage to build railroads, trains, train stations etc. etc. in a 3D map ( which you can zoom in and out and rotate ). The graphics aren't that good looking, very simple for a Dreamcast game. It will take a while to get used to the menus and knowing what thing does what. You begin in 1830 and the demo will end at 1840.....so what exactly are you suppose to do in this demo?

You have three goals you have to complete by 1840:
-Bronze Medal: Connect to Washington.
-Silver Medal: Also connect to Harpers Ferry.
-Gold Medal: After that, connect to Philadelphia.

This game will require a lot of patience, and if you don't have that then stay away from this demo.

Demo Rating - 4/10

Super Magnetic Neo
In this demo you control Super Magnetic Neo and you must stop some whacked out looking enemies from taking over Pao Pao Park. The controls are somewhat odd, you can stick to certain things like as a magnet depending on which way you use yourself. You can use this on swinging around things or attacking enemies and so on. You can play only 2 stages and the level layout is somewhat like Crash Bandicoot. It's not a bad game but I also wouldn't call it a good game, it's average.

Demo Rating - 5/10

Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation
And here we have Lara Croft in yet another Tomb Raider game. If you played one of these games then you know what your in for, raiding tombs ( lol ), solving puzzles, attacking animals that pop out of nowhere etc etc. It just seems like your going through the same thing over and over again in these games, and it tends to wear you out a bit. If your expecting something different in this from the other games in the series then you might want to stay away from this. But if you love the Tomb Raider series then I guess your gonna enjoy this demo.

Demo Rating - 4/10

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater
The saving grace of this disc, you'll have alot of fun with this demo. You get one stage ( warehouse ) and can only play as Tony, and you can either try to complete the tasks or just try to pull off alot of tricks to get big points. Even though it has a short time limit, you'll keep coming back to this demo to try and pull off even more tricks and stunts.

Demo Rating - 8/10

Besides Fur Fighters and Tony Hawk and probably the Web Browser 2.0, all of the demos on this disc range from average to bad. But I guess it's a good thing cause then you'll know what not to buy. ;)
