Name: Maria Gabriella Blake

Appearance: Gabriella Blake is a petite woman, standing about 5'3" tall. She has dark, almost black, wavy hair, unusually large, chocolate-brown eyes with long dark lashes, and a triangular face with a small chin. She's in her early thirties, but her smallness and kittenish appearance makes her look a few years younger than her actual age. She dresses in a fashion somewhat more simple than her upper-class lady friends, and prefers dark, earthy colors.

Personality: Gabriella is an intelligent and curious woman. She is very intuitive, having learned from her tough background to get a pretty accurate opinion about people when meeting them for the first time. She is still learning to fit in in the upper-class society of which she is now a part. Usually, she is somewhat careful and reserved, but once she gets to know somebody, she is witty and talkative.

Skills: Gabriella could probably have been a good actress with her talent for imitation, her good memory and her ability to fake emotions. She enjoys taking long walks in the city and its parks, and prefers walking to riding in a carriage. Interested in history and science, the British Museum is a favorite spot of hers. Gabriella sometimes paints with watercolors or sketches in her spare time. She is very fond of sweets.

Past: Gabriella is married since three years to a Harley Street Doctor in his forties, Charles Blake. She doesn't love him, but he was kind to her and offered her the security she had been wanting for most of her life. She also acquired a position in society by marrying Charles Blake. Neither Charles, nor any of his friends knows anything about Gabriella's real background. She used to be a common prostitute in the East End for many years, until a sentimental, dying customer left her a large amount of money. This allowed her to get away from her life in the cheap bars and fashion a new identity for herself, returning to London years later as the wife of a wealthy Doctor.

Gabriella has mixed feelings about Frederick Hawthorn. He used to work as a bartender in a bar where she sold her body many years ago. Frederick reminds her of her past life, which she wants to forget as much as possible. He's weird and dangerous, but yet charming, and he keeps telling her that he loves her. After an unplanned night of passion, thoughts of Frederick haunts Gabriella's mind day and night.
