Story.
Testament used to be human, but was abducted by the Postwar Administration Bureau ('Shusen Kanrikyoku') to become a test subject in a project to develop a new breed of Gear. In the process, he still retained his sense of identity. But he gained a pure hatred for mankind in his allegiance to the Gear Justice and its cause.
After Justice's sealing, Testament organised the Second Sacred Order Fighting Tournament (Guilty Gear) in a bid to resurrect Justice from his dimensional prison. Yet the plan failed, and Testament disappeared, distraught by the death of Justice and his sins. He despaired to live his life as a human being. He wandered into a wood called the 'devil's living place', where he met the Gear Dizzy. After learning her story, he vowed to protect her from outsiders. Instead of holding his scythe for the cause of destruction, he now uses it for protection.
