Gundam: Side Story 0079
Tips for Survival
- Use the landscape! Especially on the hard difficulty, using the landscape to your atvantage will save from being destroyed.
- The Sniper scope. This action (default is Y button) does just it means; it allows you to see an area from a sniper range. Use this to scout our areas (like mission 6, where Oasis' S.P. search has been damaged), while Fang 2 and Fang 3 cover you.
- The shield. This weapon (default is R trigger) can be used in three sizes. The small shield can't take much damage, but it can be used for ramming into enemies. The large shield is stronger, but can't be used for ramming. The medium shield (only available on Mission 9;SEE CHEATS; or when you use the RGM79SP), has the ramming ability of the small shield, and more strength, like the large shield.
- Oasis. She is key to your missions and their success. If her tank is destroyed, you will have to scout areas manually. Her S.P. search, can be used to map out the whole battlefield. She usually gives tips on the mission, so try to keep her alive.
- Your GM. Throughout the game, you can use the GM-79 and the RGM-80. They can be used on the first eight missions by any character, and are slightly different from each other. The GM 79 has a small stock of gernades, and the RGM-80 has some rockets. In mission 4, if you save the transport (Midea), you are rewarded with the RXD-77D. This mech has a small stock of double cannons, and a standard arsenal consisting of dual machine guns. Since it has two weapons, it has no shield. It has thick armor, and the machine guns can rack up a lot of damage if they focus on one target.
- Your partners. Mike (Fang 3) and Leon (Fang 2) are another key role for winning the game. They can be ordered to search an area, move to an area, cover a certain target, and attack a target. You also choose what range for them to attack with. Short means that they will mostly use their beam saber. On missions 2 and 9, the Gouf (Mission 2)and Gelogg( Mission 9), Vische Donahue's mech, should never be attacked at close range. The Gouf has a whip that holds you in place, and the Gelogg has a double-sided beam saber(like Darth Maul from Episode I) that can kill you in seconds. Medium range has your soldiers use a combination of weapons. Long range means that they will mostly use their primary weapon (unlimited amount of ammo weapon).

An odd occurence with your partners weapons, is that their weapons seem to magically reload. When you have them use a long recharge weapon, like the P-Beam Rifle, they fire the shots within seconds of eachother. Use this to your atvantage.
