  The Story:
On the planet Mobius, Dr. Robotnik and his Badniks, Scratch, Grounder, and Coconuts are up to no good. Dr. Robotnik has created a new machine called Mean Bean-Steaming Machine. He'll use this machine to change the folks of Beanville into evil robots to rid Mobius of Music And Fun! You must help Beanville and Mobius to stop Dr. Robotnik and his evil goons!

  The Gameplay:
If you ever played Puyo Puyo then you'll know what Mean Bean Machine is all about. The game plays exactly like Puyo Puyo but instead with Dr. Robotnik and a really bad storyline.

The gameplay is Tetris style where Beans known as Puyos fall from the top of the screen and you must match them with colors by controling them down. Match 4 of the same color and they'll disapear making some from the top fall and giving you extra points. You must keep your half of the screen as clean as possible and stay in the game longer then your opponent.

When playing your opponent in early stages, winning is very easy. Once you get into harder stages, Refugees will fall toward you or your oponents side. Refugees are transparent like Beans that can't be destroyed unless a bunch of colored beans are destroyed around it. The more Refugees you destroy, the more your opponent will get.

There are thirteen opponents to defeat and Dr. Robotnik is the final opponent. Each stages you go to, the faster the Beans will drop. The longer you stay in a stage the faster the Beans drop. To defeat an oponent, their side must fill up to the top, same to you if you are defeated.

There are 5 colors which are green, red, blue, yellow, and purple. In easier settings it'll only have 4 of those colors. When your doing really bad, Carbuncle (known as HasBean in this game), the mascot of Puyo Puyo and Big Bean will help you out.

Though, Puyo Puyo is a Japanese series, Mean Bean Machine was the only game to come to USA. The Game Gear version has more simple graphics and sound plus more modes. Mean Bean Machine has characters and looks from AoSTH Cartoon series, such characters in the game from that series are Scratch, Grounder, and Coconuts.
