The Story:
A mysterious island has risen near Sonic's home, which is created by none other then Dr. Eggman himself. He has built The Silver Castle which has traps and mazes for Sonic and Knuckles to overcome. Eggman has planned on watching Sonic fail to overcome his new fortress and then he will collect all the Chaos Emeralds to take over the world! Only Sonic & Knuckles can save the day!
The Gameplay:
The final Sonic game on the Game Gear,Sonic Blast has it's ups and downs. The first game where you can control Knuckles, Sonic Blast is an 'OK' title but could of been better. The graphics are the best Game Gear can provide, though the gameplay isn't the best.
Known as G Sonic in Japan, it's level design is very plain like Sonic 1 for Game Gear. The character sprites are very large for the game. Though the graphics are good, it takes the gameplay away.
Sonic has his usual Spin Dash, plus a new move called the double jump which you just jump and then jump again in the air. Knuckles has his traditional gliding and climbing abilities as well, though when he glides it looks as if he's side ways.
The gameplay is just as any other game, you start and finish at the end, like any 2D Side scroller. The Special Stages are reached like in Sonic 3 & Knuckles, where you must find the big ring to enter. The Special Stages look a lot like the ones in Sonic 3 & Knuckles, though you can't turn and go other directions, just straight, you must collect rings to get the Chaos Emeralds. Though, they only give you one chance per stage to get the Chaos Emerald, which you need to get to the final boss.
The boss fights are very simple, you fight Dr. Eggman at the end of a stages final act. Not like other Sonic games on Game Gear, in this one you must fight Eggman at the end, instead of one of his main bots.
