Trouff and Kristiana Receive First-Hand News

Cliffside Pub
The rustic redolence of sea spray and weathered antique furniture seems to engulf the cozy little pub as one walks though the thick paneled doors. Dimly lit with a few glows scattered around the small opened room, it hardly offers space to move about unless the tables were cleared out of the way. Deep mahogany crown molding with engraved wave-like patterns is boldly displayed at the top of the walls. A chair rail ledge also works it's way around the room with small, handcrafted wooden boats with white plastered sails on display for all to see. The walls are a light sea-blue and the floor a hard wood that has been stained into a sandy brown colour. A few slant windows can be propped open when the weather is pleasant, allowing in warm sunlight. The bar is made from craved wood, with a dozen or so stools gathered around it. A mixed array of various sized tables are spread out over the room although their design remains much the same. The furniture shows everyday wear and tear, a kick here a scratch there. Although it does not distract the eye from the rest of the room. A rug is set before a large fireplace that is set towards one side of the pub with a comfy looking sofa couch set before the hearth. The little pub seems efficient enough for the locals. Here, drinks are preferred. The only thing offered on the menu is chowder and bread for anyone who cannot reach the hold in time for a full meal.

Leandra walks in from the Lighthouse Cliffs.

Oadatrouff winces as his dart falls to the floor. "It was bent, I swear... This dartboard's been through a lot, y'know." Pub Boy gives a sigh, gesturing for Kris to throw, and sitting back on his stool and sulking pitifully. An eye goes barwards, and then his Pub Boy senses alert him of a presence, and he gives a wave and almost sincere grin to Leandra.

"It wasn't bent. You just have a lousy throw today, Trouff. This'll get you back for all those times you scored golds and I got blues." Kristiana snickers and shrugs as she poises her dart between her fingers. The Host's change in body movement helps her to realize that they aren't alone in the pub, and the woman whips around mid-throw, nearly binging a drunkard in the head. "Watch wher yo frow those!" Kristiana eeps and wipes her hands on her skirt, looking to Leandra with a cough and smile. "Anything we can get for you today?"

Leandra has entered the Pub with a light skip in her step. She smiles happily. "Oh, no thanks," she says in a somewhat melodic voice, "Not right now anyway." She's happy today, like she has been for the past sevenday or so. She gives a wave to Trouff before sitting down at an empty table.

Oadatrouff hops off his stool, collecting his darts, and then going to Leandra's table and shifting into pub host mode. "Hiya. How're you today? I'm Oadatrouff, everyone calls me Trouff, Hey You works too." A wave (consequently the hand with the darts in it, though he manages not to poke his eye out) is given, and he grin idiotically. Well, he's not had all that much wine tonight. And gin and ale are certainly quite different, now, aren't they?

Kristiana snickers at Trouff's introduction, nodding to Leandra's response. "If you want anything to drink, let me know. We have juice and klah if you're not up for alchohol... And other terms work just as well to get that man's attention. You should hear some of the things he's called." She winks to her friend as she slides back behind the bar, grabbing a rag to wipe of the table. "Hey, You! Put this up!" She tosses a wine bottle toward Trouff, not even looking to see if it crashes or falls into his hands. "I'm Kristiana, by the way, or Kri, Kris, Kristi, whichever is easier. What brings you to SeaCliffs, if I may ask?"

Leandra nods at Kristiana. If she feels like she wants something to drink she asks Kristiana, got it. She smiles at Trouff and Kristiana and says, "My name's Leandra. Well met both of you." She answers Trouff's first question and says, "I'm doing great today." Then she answers Kristiana's question, "Well, I was originally looking for a place where I felt needed. I'm a nanny at Seacliffs now so I feel needed." She smiles. Lea's definitely happy about something. She's all bubbly actually. She wonders if anyone has even noticed that lately. Byrd did, but he left before she could say why. Oh well. Maybe someone else will notice?

Oadatrouff fumbles with the bottle, nearly dropping it once, tossing it back up, catching it, putting himself off balance, falling to a seated position on Leandra's freshly wiped table. He stands, brushes his clothes, off, and raises an eyebrow. "Since you're a nanny, I'd like to apologize in advance." And he sets a hand on her shoulder, gives a sympathetic look, and then turns at a yell from a fisherman about klah. "I'm coming! Shards, Kris, where did those two drudges get to? There s'posed to be helping us!" Wine is placed on the table, and grumbling pub host goes off to fetch the drink.

Kristiana grins toward Leandra's response, nodding as she continues to wipe the bar. "Well met Leandra, and it's nice to meet more that live in the area. I'm new here myself... just got here a few sevendays ago." She stifles laughter toward Trouff, shaking her head. "We need to work on that move, boy. You forgot the triple twist followed by the split." She grins and shakes her head before responding. "Probably out back chatting again." She pokes her head out the door, mumbling, and the two men walk back inside. "They're yours, Trouff! Tell 'em like it is!"

Leandra giggles. She's glad she's a nanny and not a bartender. She wouldn't be able to handle it. Maybe that's why she tends to admire these type of people? She smiles and says, "I haven't been getting out much so I really haven't met enough people here. That's sort of why I came to the Pub." She grins and adds, "You know...maybe I could use a drink. What would you recommend?" Lea gives another smile and leans back a bit in her chair. She'll have to try to come here more often or something. It's fun.

Oadatrouff nods gratefully back to Kris for sending the drudges, giving a grimace at the comment about his catch. Well, what does she expect? He waves the two men over, pointing as he dispatches them. "Bert, they want klah over there. And careful, I think that one's had about four glasses of gin, so don't give him any more, alright? Ernie! See the empty glasses at the table of the giggling girls? And let's try not to flirt too much, right? No arguing, remember, I know the headwoman quite well..." And Trouff returns to his lovely assistant and the nanny, stopping by the dartboard to toss his darts in the pail, and dragging his stool near the table. "Well, we just got some wine..." A gesture to the bottle on the table. "From Gar, it's not the nice Benden, but if the other bottles are anything to go by... Good white, crips fruity taste."

"Makes sense to me," Kristiana replies with a grin and nod. "And one of us is always here for conversation. It is a good way to meet people." She nods and leans back against the bar, hmming softly. "We have wine of course, both Benden white and red. Different forms of tonic... Gin... Or Trouff and I can mix up our own concoction for you?" She looks up with a nod, seeing that, once again, Trouff has gotten the two back to work. "Let me guess, Bert, you were out watching the avians again?" An answer is not waited for as she nods again. "And Trouff mixes the wine to make a crisp fruity sorta pink things. It's kind of neat."

Leandra shrugs and thinks about it, "I think I'll just have whatever you want to give me. Anything will do." Was that a wise decision? She smiles and watches all that's going on around the pub. Yes, she'll have to come back here again. This is too much fun.

"Trusting us with whatever we give you? You must be in a good mood... Or perhaps a strange state of mind?" Tact? Trouff doesn't have tact, and anyone who doesn't now that by now has not been in 'his' pub. And the fumes of alcohol don't help either. "Y'know, Kris, this wine should mix quite well with the redfruit juice... And we could always add some gin. There's good gin now. Just ask him," and a thumb is thrust in the direction of the klah demanding fisherman, whom Bert doesn't seem quite able to placate. "Oh Faranth, why does he never behave? I don't want to have to toss him out again." And the fisherman's gettin' loud.

Kristiana grins at Leandra and.... is that a cackle? No, of course not. And it's a good thing that Leandra doesn't know that, before she came to Seacliffs, Kris knew little about alchohol. She picks up a bottle of fruit juice, sniffing it, and pours it into a glass. She giggles slightly at Trouff's comment as she picks up a bottle of clear alchohol and pours it into the nearly-full juice glass. She nods and grabs the wine, pouring a bit of it in as well. A little stir adds to the combination, and even a stick of some sort of sweet candy! Isn't she grand?! "Aye, Leandra, you do seem to be a happy person. Things must be going well. Usually we get sad souls in here." When they get souls in here at all. She uses a straw to take a drink of the liquid and nods. "Perfect." She sits it on the table before the nanny and beams. Good luck!

Leandra smiles, "I guess you could say I'm in a good mood." Grin. A very good mood at that. But why? Should she say? She takes the drink and sips at it. Blink. Wow! That's a kick! She smiles and swallows a couple times, "I like it." She takes another drink before saying, "Everything is going great in my life so I thought I should just celebrate." Was there a hint that there's something more to that statement maybe?

Oadatrouff beams at the compliments for the drink, giving Kris a nod of approval. They grow up so quickly... "So what's so great in-" Trouff's interrupted by a thud from the fisherman's corner. Apparently he's had more than four glasses of gin... And there go the noble drudges, and Trouff excuses himself momentarily, herding the other men, with the drunk between them, towards the couch near the fire, where they can put the unconscious fisherman. Pub Boy checks over the fisherman quickly, assuring himself of a pulse and breathing, and then shrugs to himself, satisfied.

Kristiana grins toward Leandra as she sashays back to the bar, leaning on it with her elbows. "It's nice to have good moods around here, though Trouff and I often make up for the bad ones." She forces a bigger smile on her face before chuckling. "I'm glad you like it." She waves Trouff toward the fishermen with a giggle. "Bert and Ernie seem to be slacking again..." She continues the man's question. "What brings a smile to your face, if I may ask?"

Leandra smiles and says, "Well...it just so happens that I've met someone." Grin. "He loves me very much and he plans on handfasting me when he moves from Paradise to here at Seacliffs." Another grin. Yes! Lea plans on getting 'fasted soon! Smile. Happy happy happy!

Oadatrouff returns just in time to hear Lea's news, gives a great big "Oh! I don't know 'bout you guys, but I feel a hug coming on..." And then the pub host shakes off his girly attitude and flops back on his stool in the most masculine way one can flop. "Well, in that case, drinks are on the house tonight!" A cheer goes up from the table of giggling girls, and he glowers. "For her!" Emphatic point at Leandra. "So what's his name, this lover of yours?"

Kristiana looks toward Leandra, eyes twinkling. "OH! Congratulations!" She scurries from the bar, nodding at Trouff's statement. "Aye, a hug!" She wraps her arms around his back and squeeeeeeezes. "Now it's Leandra's turn! If she wants one, of course." The former harper chuckles and pushes hair from her face, laughing toward the others in the room. "Aye, free drinks, and do, please, tell us about him."

Leandra giggles and smiles at Trouff and Kristiana. A free drink is nice to have. She answers and says, "His name is Claude. He's a Paradise resident at the moment. He's the sweetest man I've ever met and he adores me." She's stating fact. "I believe it was love at first sight when I met him too." Grin. Take a drink of the concoction. Should she continue about their meeting?

Oadatrouff grins madly, propping his elbows on his knees, and then his chin on his hands. "There has to be more than that..." And a slightly annoyed look goes to Kris for offering free drinks all around. "You know how Iona gets about that... Bad enough when we take it... Ah well, for a handfasting, I suppose..." Darned headwoman, made him all money conscious with her talk of fish bartering.

Kristiana swoons as she pulls up a chair and slides into it-- although this means that she has to stand every five minutes to refill or brew anew. "Ooh... He sounds nice. So he's planning to come here, to Seacliffs?" She takes a sip from the wine glass tinkering in her hand. And she never offered free drinks all around. Marks are marks, pubby boy. She nods slowly. "So! Tell more!"

Leandra grins and giggles before continuing, "Well...we first met in the Seacliffs Common Room. I guess he was looking for someone or something." Shrug. "And I came out and I was looking for my firelizard who was hiding from me....we both said hi to each other and when I tried to get Blu Diamond to come to me, he wouldn't. Claude offered to help and help he did! He got a big fat meatroll and coaxed Blu down. Blu thought he could just snatch the meatroll, but ended up grabbing more than he could tow since he's still only a little baby." Giggle. "Blu was weighed down from the weight and he had to land...on my arm. So after that me and Claude just got to talking and we decided we liked each other. Ever since then he comes to visit and he's even promised to move here and 'Fast me." She grins and takes a sip of the drink before shrugging as a way to show that's the end...or is it? Big grin.

Kristiana leans forward in her seat, waving requests for drinks off with a quiet "The drudges are here! Hail them, please." Kristi can never get as forward with the people as Trouff can. Not yet anyway. She mmhmms and nods as she listens, grinning along with the story. "Wow... That's nice. I am happy for you." Well, Kris is just about happy for anyone who's happy, but then again, she's almost always happy. Happy. Just wanted to say that one more time. "So... do you think you'll have kidlets and such? Probably tired of seeing them, aren't you?"

Leandra giggles. Kristiana read her mind. "Actually yes. We are planning on having kidlets. Not sure when though," she smiles. In fact, a trip to the healer may be in her near future. Maybe she should stop drinking now since she's not sure? She pushes the drink aside as it dawns on her now. Ok. Just to be safe she'll stop. She's not sure. It's just in case. Right?

Kristiana grins and shrugs. "Right away!" She waves her hands in the air as she says this... a little loudly. Hey, she works in a pub. She can drink! She notices the push of the glass and raises an eyebrow, smiling timidly. "Perhaps I should get you some juice or something instead?"

Leandra grins and nods. "Yeah...just in case?" she says, "Sorry to waste it though. It is a good drink." Smile. "I'll have to suggest it to Claude when he comes back from sorting things out and such." She's glad she got everything off her chest though. Now maybe she won't be the only one spreading the news around?

Kristiana nahs and waves her hand. "Don't worry about it. You have free drinks anyway, remember?" She chuckles and crosses back over to the bar again, pouring a glass of juice and bringing it back for the woman. "Aye, you must have a lot of planning to do. If you want to have post-handfasting refreshments here, just let us know! Just give us time to plan." And, more than likely, words will be dropped, of course. *beams*

Leandra grins and nods, "I'll definitely think about that. I'm sure it would be perfect." She smiles and takes a look around the place a bit. Yeah...it could work quite nicely. And a 'fasting by the beach would be great! Now Lea is happier than she was before...if that's possible. She takes a sip of the juice and smiles. There. Much safer now...just in case.

Kristiana gives the room a slow sweep as she hmms, hand on her chin. "We could just push the tables aside... The harpers could go over there. We'd have to order more wine, of course, and food would be brought in from the hold..." Uhoh. She's planning already, and it's not even her handfasting! She grins and looks back at the woman. "I wish you both well."

Leandra smiles, "Thank you. You know what...I think I'll just put you in charge of my 'Fasting when I have it." She pauses and looks at Kristiana "That is if you don't mind?" She smiles and takes another drink of her juice.

Kristiana looks a bit aghast and blinks. She blinks several times in fact, even saying an "umm..." before thinking this over. "I suppose that could work. I mean, I do have connection at harper-- I used to be one-- so that shouldn't be difficult. And then the flowers and food and drinks." She shrugs and smiles. "If you let me know what to do, I suppose I could do something."

Leandra smiles, "Wonderful. I don't know exactly how to plan a handfasting anyway. You wouldn't have all the burdens of course, you'd just be helping me...alot." She giggles and sips at the juice. "I'd really appreciate it too," she adds.

Kristiana grins as she falls back into her seat. It's been a long day. "I've never planned one either, but I've seen a lot. The main thing, it seems, is the day of... It's so crazy." She chuckles softly and takes another drink of wine. "I'm sure you have a lot to worry about, so I don't mind helping out."

Leandra nods and stretches. "Yeah, and..." she looks at her stomach in thought, "and...if I am pregnant or something...then I'll really need your help." She smiles and blushes slightly before finishing off most of the juice and standing up from the table. "Well," she says in a sort of sigh, "I'm really tired and I should get some rest. I'm sorry to leave though. This was fun." She smiles and gives Kristiana a hug out of appreciation and stuff.

Kristiana smiles and nods slowly as she thinks over things. "Well, if you plan it afterwards, that wouldn't be bad, as you wouldn't worry about your dress fitting and things like that. But... then if you have it afterwards, the weaver wouldn't know what size to make and... I'm rambling." She chuckles softly and nods. "Well, it was nice to meet you, and congratulations again. Please come back and see us," she responds, jutting a finger toward the dozing host before giving the woman a hug in return.

Leandra smiles and nods. "Thank you," she says heading for the door, "I'll be sure to return with my darling Claude too!" She waves and pops out the door.
