Steiner takes his job way too seriously! He's the Captain of the Knights of Pluto (erm...no wonder the woman are running Alexandria with men like Steiner and his 'Knights' around), and bodyguard (or is that 'babysitter'?) to the Princess. He's also a master with a sword, and can learn some handy Sword Arts. He and Zidane don't get along for obvious reasons at the beginning of the game, but they soon learn to get along. Steiner is also really ignorant: he just cannot believe that his own queen is trying to kill him and the Princess! It isn't until Beatrix, the female general of Alexandria, tells him that Brahne was going to kill Garnet, that he finally realises that she's gone bad, really bad. He's in love with Beatrix, but they compete for the queen's favour. Beatrix has no problem winning as Steiner's men are as inept as he is. He has a great respect for Vivi, and addresses him as "Master Vivi" all the time.
