This is the custom skins section of my site. Floating around on the internet there is a certain MW4 skinning tool.
Get it here: MechWarrior4 Quick Skinner
This download should contain the quick skinning utility and the required patch needed to use it. This is an addon not authorized by MicroSoft.
First, you must install the patch that comes with it. Install it, then run the program, and click on "patch". It will begin the patching process. This program will not run without the patch.
The program lets you replace existing skins in the Mech4 Vengeance game. It will let you choose from 9-37, where 37 is the default drab skin. The cool thing about skin 37 is, when you replace it and run Instant Action, you get to see your skin applied to the bot mechs. First you have to select a skin. The only requirement to the skin is that they must be 512x512 in size and in JPG,BMP or uncompressed 24-bit TGA format. If they are not the program won't let you insert the skin into the game.
First open a skin file by using File Open and browsing for your Uncompressed 24-bit TGA, JPG or BMP 512x512 resolution file. It will display the marvelous work of wonder that you created, or got from someone else for you. Next you should select which skin you want to replace, which is done by choosing a number under the mysteriously named menu "Skin". After choosing the skin you wish to replace you need to insert it, by selecting Insert Skin from the Edit menu.
Being the rather attractive and intelligent persons that you are by wanting to use this program, you'll have noticed the Restore to Original selection in the Edit menu. This option will restore the backup of the textures.mw4 and props.mw4 files. IF you do this, it will require that you rerun the Skinpatch program again (so you'll likely not want to do that a lot).
Uninstalling
BEFORE you RUSH out and do the Uninstall You'll want to run the Restore to Original option from the Edit menu. This will put your texture files back. Then go to add/remove programs and uninstall the program as usual. After you uninstall you can remove the *.MW4B files from your mech directory.
Hope you have a great Skinning experience!
