OAT AND DATE SLICE |

| Ingredients | Filling |
| 2lbs of Oats | 1/2pint Cold Water |
| 1lb Margarine | 2lb of Dates (Stoned) |
| 8oz Sugar | 2oz Sugar |
| 1/4oz Baking Powder | |
| 1/4 gill Cold Water* | |
| Oven Temp and Time | 350 Fahrenheit for 20-25min |
| Method | |
| Wash the Dates in hot water, stone and place in a pan with 1/2pint cold water. | |
| Stew gently for 20 min or until they are into a pulp; allow to cool | |
| Beat the margarine and sugar to a cream; add the other dry ingredients and sprinkle with water, pressing the mixture together until it is pliable. | |
| Divide the mixture into four and roll out each portion to 10inch x 15inch | |
| Spread the date mixture over two of the portions | |
| Cut the remaining two portions into 18 pieces each and lay them on the portions spread with the date mixture. then cut each piece right through to make 36 slices in all. | |
| Place these closely together on a baking tray and bake until the under part becomes crisp | |
| Allow to cool before removing from tray. | |
| Dust with sugar | |
