My New Pistons Poem

Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals
Another Original Piece

This series was a tough one, indeed it was.
Indiana came in with the media buzz.

"They have the best record so surely they'll win."
Didnt anyone tell them that lyings a sin?

Game 1 was a problem 78 to 74.
Who knew we'd have so much trouble trying to score?

But that didnt matter, "We will win game 2!"
Rasheed said this fact til his face turned blue.

And thats what they did 72-67.
Indianapolis began to look like their heaven.

Now its on to Detroit even at one all.
Its time to show them some real playoff basketball.

We had 85 they had 78.
Wallace times 2 got into foul trouble late.

But between both the guys they had 37.
Maybe they should be MVP and not Kevin.

And then theres game 4, what the heck did we do?
All of a sudden its even at 2-2.

Corliss said "We talked about getting the ball on our side
about keeping up pressure and just staying alive."

But alas they were meek and didnt do that.
They fell on their faces oh lord they fell flat.

Now back on the road a win would be good
then we could finish at home like we should.

And here came Rip Hamilton right outta the gate
there was not a shot that he could not make.

He scored 33 points a new playoff high
It was time to tell ol Indiana goodbye.

It was back to Detroit up 3 games to 2!
Theres nothing that this Pistons team cannot do!

Game 6 started slow 60 points in the half.
It seems like the Pistons had run out of gas.
Late in the 4th it was 59 all
then Artest attacked Rip and caused him to fall.

A flagrant foul, jeez, the worst of its kind
and blood on Rips face they proceeded to find.

What followed? Oh yeah a huge 4 point play!
After that the Pacers had nothing to say.

We beat them in 6! The crowd went beserk!
This is what the Pistons call going to work.

This Pacers team was a bunch of young fakers
but now we must face the Western Conference Lakers.

The best offense against the best defense?
Man already I cant take the suspense

Well whos gonna win? I can already see
The team with Tay, Ben, Rip, Chauncey, and Sheed.

The Pistons will be champs in 2004!
Thats right the Bad Boys are back for some more!

Game 5 of the Playoffs
An Original Piece by Paul Jarema

Twas Game 5 of the playoffs
The Pistons and Nets
And even before the game I started to fret

Traffic was bad
and we showed up late
Thank god there was no line in will call window 8.

We got both the tickets
and went up in the stands
and rooted on the Pistons with 22,000 other fans.

It started off decent
we couldnt complain.
At the end of the first, we're down by 6, not in vain.

The second was better
with Rasheed, Ben, and Rip
It seemed Coach Larry Brown had given them some tips.

The went into the locker room at half
winning by one
but they all knew the work was nowhere near done.

In the third quarter
they were outscored by two;
but still the fans did not turn blue.

It came down to the final seconds
exactly 1.4;
when Chauncey Billups decided to score.

He received the pass
and took the half court shot
and man oh man did that ball ever drop.

He had tied up the game
in one glorious heartbeat;
and the fans returned right back to their seats.

We were cheering so loud
that no one could hear.
Then I got wet by 4 cups of beer.

People were throwing things in celebration.
You couldnt describe in words the crowds great elation.

Were goin to OT
its 88 all.
Rasheed stepped up big and won the jump ball.

We made it this far
but some fans had some doubt.
Stars like Big Ben and Rip had already fouled out.

Unfortunately Rasheed
was the next one to go,
the lack of good starters was starting to show.

Now we got Okur,
Ham, and Mike James
I dont even recognize some of these names.

Long story short
we lost a close game
but man three overtimes made it insane.

It was such a great game
we gave it a good try,
but we havent seen the end of the Pistons, so dont cry.

What have we learned?
You cant win them all
Now its on to New Jersey to play some real ball.

Were gonna make fools
out of K-Mart and Kidd
dont think for one second that this is a fib.

Good game to the Nets
but youre goin down
Because guess what. The Bad Boys are back in town.
