Tips & Hints

Episode 1:

In the Cave, there is a secret level bonus gem hidden in the ceiling above the revolving spike bar.

In City Park, there is a secret level bonus gem hidden in the top of the first tree.

In No-Man's Land, there is a secret level bonus gem hidden in the wall above the exit.

In the Computer Core, there is a secret level bonus gem hidden in the second ion cannon from the left. (Ion cannons are those multi-directional cross-shaped weapons in between some platforms.)

Colour Codes:

South Side: Red, Magenta, Blue, Green, Cyan
Cave: Blue, Cyan, Green, Magenta, Red
Computer Core: Cyan, Blue, Red, Magenta, Green
Mangle's Last Stand: Red, Magenta, Blue, Green, Cyan

Episode 2:

The place to activate the colour coded lock is to the right of where the code itself is found, hiddin behind a hollow wall.

In the Main Corridor, the secret level bonus gem is hidden in the area that is opened up when the bridge is deactivated. It is at the far right end of the level, in a hidden wall.

In Ant Run, there is a secret level bonus gem hidden on a platform at the bottom left corner of the level, below the spot where the disappearing blocks lead you.

The nuclear bomb is located in the bottom right corner of the Genetics Lab.

In the Specimens Lab, there is a secret room, opened by unlocking the door with the special key. If you haven't even found that area yet, check back at the start for an elevator. That secret room also contains a secret level bonus gem.

Colour Codes:

Main Corridor: Blue, Cyan, Green, Magenta, Red.
Ant Run: Cyan, Red, Magenta, Green, Blue.
Electronics Lab: Red, Magenta, Blue, Green, Cyan.

Episode 3:

In the Guard Tower, there is a secret level bonus gem hidden in the top left corner of the level. It is hidden in the wall behind the top turret.

In Utility Maintenance, there is a secret level bonus gem hidden in the wall above the exit door.

In the Circle of Death, get the secret level bonus gem at the floor second down from the top right by jumping up into the roof.

The Anti-Radiation pill in Utility Maintenance is in an open door to the right of the restart beacon, in about the middle of the level.
 

Cheat Codes

Registered Version only:

Press C + A + T to get the Machine gun, 90 shots, and 99 regular grenades.
 

Hex Editing

In the saved games, SAVEGAMx.BMy (where x is the number of the saved game slot, and y is the number of the episode), the following bytes can be edited:
Offset 82: Skill level (1 - Easy, 2 - Normal, 3 - Hard)
Offset 41-44: Score (stored in hexadecimal format)
Offset 49: Level
 
  Level Values: 
0 -11: regular levels 
12: The high score screen 
13: The Apogee opening screen 
20: First secret level 
21: Second secret level 
22: Third secret level 
23: Fourth secret level (doesn't work for Episode 2 and 3) 
24: The "To secret level..." screen

Easter Eggs

In Episode 2, Specimens Lab level, the secret room that you find is the Apogee Room. The three people in the room are Jim Norwood, Game Design; George Broussard, Producer; and Scott Miller, all from Apogee. The room contains items from other Apogee / iD games, including:
- yorps, from Commander Keen: Invasion of the Vorticons
- a picture of Duke Nukum on the wall
- power-ups (turkey and sodas), security cameras, mobile cannons, Energizer bunnies, and a pinwheel from Duke Nukum I
- candy, from Monster Bash
- Boobus bombs, from Commander Keen: Keen Dreams
Also, the third statue at the beginning of the level is of a yorp.

In Episode 3, Trash Dump level, the hostage you rescue is Commander Keen, from the game series of the same name.
