Move 432: Preparing to Chase
As various members of the party moved around in the cavern with their light sources, they got enough of a look around to realize that, aside from the way they came in at the southern end of the cave, there was only one way out of this cavern. The other area that had seemed to be an exit terminated after about forty feet. Those looking could see far enough down the western tunnel to realize that it branched again after a short distance.
The wound that Echo had taken disappeared.
"If everyone's good to go," Jana said, "Let's get on after that thing. But I don't really think we need to have scouts right now, since they'll know we're here. We need to watch our back, though."
Dalgaer said, "We better catch up to Renn!" and ran off after the elf with his battle ax at the ready.
There was a hiss beside Echo as the injury vanished. A moment later, Arachne's voice said, "Oh. That wasn't that bad..."
Her voice asked, "I guess --"
Dalgaer hurried away down the unexplored tunnel.
"-- we're going on?""If Janathell thinks we should pursue the creature, then let us make haste," said Aloysius. He stood ready to advance down the passage with the others.
"Thank you," Echo said. She took a place near the rear of the marching order and waited to move out.
"Let's do it." Blacky said, ready to pursue.
The group moved forward down the tunnel with Dalgaer in the lead. It took almost no time to reach the next intersection. To the left, the tunnel became another cave, big enough that they could not see its extent with their lights concentrated as they were near the entrance they were coming through.
More of the same monsters were lurking here. They seemed utterly unbothered by the lights that had just come into the room as they moved forward. It looked as though Dalgaer was going to have little choice but to tangle with two of them that were advancing on him. The intended victims of the other three was less certain.
Blacky rushed forward into the cavern just far enough to give himself room to wield his large axe and engaged whichever creature came into range first.
Dalgaer moved as far into the cave as the creatures allowed him to, and attacked one of the two going after him with a mighty swipe of his attack.
The priest stayed back from the struggle working his hands through the complex gestures of a slightly powerful miracle. He closed his eyes as he mumbled the final words and spread his gauntleted hands toward the combat.
Aloysius positioned himself about 10 feet from the mouth of the tunnel heading off to the northeast. He divided his attentions between the battle that was starting and the tunnel.
Azrun stood back with Aloysius, "I've got webs available if we need them, Aloysius." Azrun began to watch further into the cavern looking for movement.
Jana moved in to the cavern to try to form a 'plug' with Dalgaer and Blacky and keep the critters from pushing through them to the others. She attacked the nearest one with her sword.
Echo went into the cavern far enough to get her back against one of the walls. She stayed behind the line of fighters and prepared to cast a spell.
