Meefman's House Rules
Send submissions to me!
In the interest of fair and balanced gameplay I use a number of house rules. I consider some of them to be common sense and necessary, for example if you use the canon rules for how long it takes to cast a spell a magic user would NEVER win a fight, they'd be dead before they got their first spell cast. So I use a number of house rules to try and improve my game. Here are the house rules that I can remember right now, (they aren't all written down yet).
#1 Unless the spell is a ritual or the spell itself specifically states how long it takes to cast it, all spells take only ONE action to cast, regardless of the spell's level. You still can only cast 2 spells per melee.
#2 All races, not just humans, get to roll an extra d6 if they rolled a 16 or better on a stat that is 3d6.
#3 Activating a Techno-Wizard item, magical item, or bio-wizardry item does not count as casting a spell, so if someone with 5 attacks casted 2 Fire Bolt spells and a TW staff with Fire Bolt on it they could get off 5 Fire Bolts a round.
#4 You can select a race that is listed as an RCC as your race and still pick an OCC, but you don't any of the skills, money, equipment, etc listed in the RCC.
#5 You can learn a new skill without leveling your character by training/studying from someone who has the skill. The time is variable, all physical skills take from 4 to 6 months. Skills such as Weapons Engineer can take up to a year to learn. A teacher may not be needed if the character possesses a detailed source of information on the skills, for example a set of manuals for Chemistry would let the character learn it without a teacher.
#6 Credits are rectangular squares of metal, all are of the same size. They come in 1, 2, 5, 10, 15, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1,000, 2,000, 5,000, and 10,000 denominations. They are labeled how much they are worth and the higher value ones are made of precious metals, so a 1 Credit might be made of tin or aluminum while the 5,000 is made of gold, and the 10,000 is also gold of the same size, but double the thickness. This is just to help me the GM to avoid the headache of changing currencies every time they go somewhere new. This system is megaverse-wide, except in places where they use silver and gold pieces, like Palladium world and other low tech places.
#7 Nothing from Phase World exists. The phase world books are utter cr@p and are the most munchkin pieces of %^$%^ I have ever had the displeasure of reading. Of course CJ Carella wrote them, (I think), so it's no wonder munchkins consider them the best books of all time, and they are munchkined out.
