Here are the Cheats for SimCity 2000.  Use these at your own risk.  We recommend that you save another copy of your city before applying the cheats, just in case.  We are not responsible for any damage these may cause you or your computer.  Have Fun!

We do not recommend using cheats until you have learned the game well.  (It may seem fun at first, but it quickly becomes boring.) cheating is no replacement for knowledge and experience as mayor.  Don't worry if you don't know the game though, the more you play, the more you'll learn!  Also, if you're just starting out, it would be a great idea to check out the Tips and Tricks section for some helpful ideas!

Cheats for Windows 95:

imacheat - Adds $500,000 to total funds.
mrsoleary - starts a fire
buddamus - WARNING!  Causes a Nuclear Meltdown!
cass - gives you $250, but if used too many times, a firestorm will occur.
fund - lets you take out a $10,000 loan at 25%.
joke - tells a joke.
gilmartin - asks you if you want a military base.
noah - supposed to cause a major flood.
priscilla - adds a "debug" menu which gives quick access to money, rewards, major disasters, and more!
Klatu Verata Nictu (network edition only!)- send this text to all players in the chat window; an audio clip will play and a window will appear allowing you to change the prices of items in the game and to access all rewards and special tiles.

Cheats for Windows 3.1:

buddamus - here, gives you money and all rewards.
cass - gives you $250, but if used too many times, a firestorm will occur.
joke - tells a joke.
noah - starts a huge flood.
moses - stops the flood.
gilmartin - asks you if you want a military base.
oiavizmir - adds a "debug" menu which gives quick access to money, rewards, major disasters, and more!
buddamus - gives you $500,000 and all gifts.
mrsoleary - starts a fire.
gomorahh - WARNING!  Starts a NUCLEAR MELTDOWN!

Cheats for PLAYSTATION

2D Version:
Lotz of Money ($1,000,000)

    At the main Budget Dialog, press the following sequence of keys:
    1. While holding R1: Choose, Cancel, Triangle, Square
    2. While holding L1: Choose, Cancel, Triangle, Square
    3. While holding R2: Choose, Cancel, Triangle, Square
    4. While holding L2: Choose, Square, Triangle, Cancel

Bond Embezzlement (sets bonds at 0% interest, but may results in $100,000 fines)

    At the main Budget Dialog, press the following sequence of keys:
    1. While holding Triangle: L1,L2,L1,L2,R2,R1,R2,R1

Free Toolz (makes almost all tools available for free)

Using the normal arrow cursor, select and cancel the tree tool. Go to the status bar and press the following keys (make sure the cursor stays within the status bar area the entire time):
    UP, DOWN, RIGHT, LEFT, UP, ACCEPT

Maximum Dispatch (allows the maximum amount of dispatches regardless of how many stations you have in your city)

Using the normal arrow cursor, select and cancel the tree tool. With the normal arrow cursor, select and cancel the dispatch tool. Now go to the status bar and press the following keys (make sure the cursor stays within the status bar area the entire time):
    LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, CANCEL, ACCEPT

3D Version:

Chopper (shows a helicopter cockpit)
    To show: R2-L2-R2-L2-R2-L2
    To hide: R1-L1-R1-L1-R1-L1

Nugget Grab (puts a trail of gold on your road - collect them as you move around the city for money)

    Use the chopper cheat above to display the cockpit eight times, then leave it up the last time and press these keys:
    L2-R1-L2-R1-L2-R1-L2-R1

Fly Away! (allows you to navigate around the city without having to follow the roads)
    R-L-R-L-R-L2-R2-START-START  -OR-    R-L-R-L-R-L2-R2-X-X
    Press X or START again to return to drive mode.

    The controls in this mode are:

A Map in Hand is Worth Two in a Bush! (displays a map of your city with position indicator!)
    R1-R2-R1-R2-R1-R2-R1-R2

    To turn off the HUD display press:
    L1-L2-L1-L2-L1-L2-L1-L2

Night Life! (cycles day and night in your city!)

    To cycle night and day press:
    Down-Up-Down-Up-Down-L2-R2

    To stop the cycle press:
    Down-Down-Up-Up-Down-Down-L2-R2

Fade to Black (use this to fade the entire screen to black - don't know why you would want too...)
    Down-Down-Down-Down-Down-Down-L2-R2

    To pause mid-fade, press:
    L-L-L-L-L-L-L2-R2

    To return to game normal, press:
    R-R-R-R-R-R-L2-R2

Cheats for Macintosh:

cass - gives you $250, but if used too many times, a firestorm will occur.

fund - lets you take out a $10,000 loan at 25%.
vers - gives you your game's version info.

Cheats for DOS:

vers - gives you your game's version info.
torg - gets you $500,000 (version 1.10 only).
cass - gives you $250, but if used too many times, a firestorm will occur.
fund - lets you take out a $10,000 loan at 25%.
memy - performs a memory check

Magic Eraser (not confirmed to work):

*WARNING: You might want to make a back up copy of your city in case something goes awry.

1. Click the Trees/Surface Water Icon and select trees.
2. Hold down the shift key and press the left mouse button.
3. Drag your cursor over the tiles you wish to erase - you should see any structures disappear!

The Double Fund Trick -
For both DOS and Mac:

1.  Before you start building, type fund.  
2.  Accept the bond.  Repeat steps 1 and 2.
3.  Go into the bond window and take out a bond.
4.  If you like, you can repay the two 25% bonds.
5.  Exit the window and you'll get lots of dough!

Dancing Arco -
For Windows SCURK only:

After SKURK finishes starting up, type in "vaudeville". A launch arco with a top hat and a cane will dance by the screen. He will go one way, then back again. There is no limited amount to doing this.

Multiple Llama and Mayor's House

1.  Click Llama Dome/Mayor's House.
2.  Click and drag it along terrain.
3.  Destroy one of them.
4.  Llama Dome/Mayor's House re-appears in the menu again.
