We shall begin with the tale of David, The Orcslayer.
David was born and raised in a small village through the mountain pass south of Cove.
He enjoyed a hearty life with his father, a skilled Lumberjack and woodcarver. David's mother died from the
plague when he was but a lad.
South Cove was a close-knit community. Everyone knew everyone else in the village as friend and many times
the entire village would celebrate Holidays together and such.
Everyone in the village loved David. Every craftsman tried to teach David their skill, hoping he would one
day become their apprentice.
But David was not interested in Blacksmithing, nor Tailoring, nor(much to the dismay of his father) even
Lumberjacking. No, more than anything else, David aspired to become a great swordsman like the
famed Geoffrey of Jhelom.
To this end, the Captain of the town guard, Rhed the Swift, took David under his wing and taught him
all he knew of swordsmanship. David quickly caught on, and soon was winning their sparring duels.
Now David had been betrothed to marry a fair maiden of the village, Gwendolyn.
For as long as he could remember, the two of them had been friends, constantly wandering into the
forest together and getting lost, only to be scolded by their parents after Rhed would find them
and return with them to town.
But finally, David's eighteenth birthday was coming, and on that eve, he and Gwendolyn were to be married.
But it was to be on this very eve that David's life would be changed, forever.
