The Skull of Mondain

David Orcslayer returned to his home in the remote jungles south of Trinsic.

Waiting there for him was a letter, bearing the seal of British.

David cautiously opend the seal, knowing full well that the Britannian leige

had the habit of contacting the Order of the Flaming Knight only when there was bad news.

" To: David Orcslayer, Grand Paladin and guardian of the Sacred Blade:

Hail to thee. I fear that once again I bring thee dread tidings. I shall start at the very beginning. When the Stranger, the Flaming Knight, slew wicked Mondain, I had my court magician Nystul examine the foul wizard's remains. What he found was most disturbing. Even in death, Mondain still possessed the power to destroy Britannia. As it happened, his skull was the source of strange, intense magical power, that if wielded properly could potentially wipe out all life in Britannia! I knew that such power could never be allowed to fall into the wrong hands. So as it was I had the skull shattered into nine pieces, and each piece was hidden in a separate hidden location, unknown to even myself. Unfortunately, Mondain's foul apprentice Minax has now learned of the skull, and it's power. She wishes to collect the pieces and reassemble Mondain's skull. Each piece by itself holds unique power to destroy, I shall go into the detail of each piece, the names of which correspond to the dungeon in which they may be found.

Despise- Upon obtaining this piece, all men and women of Britannia shall lose their compassion for fellow man, Britannia shall become home to hatred.

Deciet- Once Minax has this piece, honesty shall cease to prevail, no one shall be able to be trusted.

Coveteous- Combined with Deciet and Despise, this is a dangerous predicament, for thievery and brigandry shall become commonplace in all Britannia.

Hythloth- Once the power of this piece is invoked, all peoples shall become filled with pride. They shall boast of their deeds to no end, and with the lack of Compassion and Honesty, some very tall and hurtful tales shall be told, and fights will break out.

Shame- No longer shall a man's honor be taken for granted. Honorable men shall be rare should this piece be siezed by the enemy. Guards will cease to protect the citizens, workers shall cease to perform their duties, chaos will result.

Wrong- Justice shall cease to exist in Britannia. Foul creatures shall invade and overtake entire cities, and no one shall try to stop them.

Destard- By this time the few remaining in Britannia that still hold any of the virtues shall be hard pressed to find their valor. Men shall flee from the hint of battle, heroes shall be rare.

Abyss- The pursuit of things spiritual will cease. People will settle into a state of apathy for they shall feel unable to better themselves or their situation. This is nearly the end, but there is one more piece, the location of which I know not.

Death- Above all, this piece must not fall into Minax's hands, for it is the final piece, and will give her the power to bring death to anyone and everyone in Britannia.

So, my friend, as you see the situation is dire indeed. Her forces are not yet ready to begin their search, but she is preparing them. Be ever watchful. I shall send you further correspondence when the time has come to begin retrieving the pieces. Until that time, you must gather such forces as are necessary to combat this wicked evil.

Your Friend,

Lord British

P.S. It may be necessary for you to unsheath the Sacred Blade in this fight, for the followers of Minax are many."

And so, David began to prepare for the fight against the forces of evil. But he cannot do it alone. He needs any and all who would stand up

against the darkness. And so he is now calling on all members of the Order of the Flaming Knight to ready themselves to combat the forces of evil.
