Might and Magic 8 Savegame Editor v1.0 by Donovan Hawkins (hawkins@uci.edu)

Version history:
0.1:  First version
0.1a: Same executable, but added info to this file about possible savegame corruption.
0.2:  Corrected Elf/Vampire spells (were swapped)
      Fixed savegame corruption (hopefully!) and added a check to flag when corruption occurs
0.3:  Added ability to change character name
0.4:  Major revision adds new method for accessing character data (via drop-down); should fix most errors
      Fixed swap of last few skills (use the old version of the editor to undo changes made that didn't show up in game)

WARNING: Please BACKUP your savegames before trying this, and be sure everything is working fine (check all the characters skills/inventory/stats) before playing. You should check that the size of the savegame has not changed after editing (it shouldn't). Also check that you can change map areas, etc., once in the game.


To use, load the save, select a character, edit, and save. Upon saving the file is closed and reopen; reselect the character to continue editing.

Editing names should present no problems, though they should still be unique.

Birth years vary by NPC, but 1152 will make them 20 when the game started and is the default for the main character.

Known problems:
 Very large numbers for stats (in the thousands) don't seem to work right in the game (not an editor problem)
 Some portraits (like the dragon) can't wear armor, and the game will crash if you try (or are already wearing some).
