Guybrush Threepwood
Guybrush is our hero in this game, a wannabe priate who sails to Melee Island to study the craft. Through a series of events I'm too lazy to type out, he sails off in search of his true love, ready to fight the Ghost Pirate LeChuck for her love.
Governor Elaine Marley
The Governor of the tri-island area of Melee, Booty, and Plunder, she grew up around pirates, andis quite able to take care of herself. But, for the sake of making the game lonoger than 10 minutes, you must go and try to rescue her.
The Ghost Pirate LeChuck
Your adversary in this game. He originally tried to court Elaine when he was alive, and she told him to drop dead. He took it literally.
The Important-Looking Pirates
They are very accuarately judged by their looks.They are important pirate. They instruct Guybursh on what he must do to become a pirate.
The Voodoo Lady
A psychic who foretells Guybrush's future, and supplies him with a usefulrubber chicken with a pulley in the middle.
Carla (a.k.a The Swordmaster)
The greatest sword-swinger on Melee Island. Guybrush must defeat her in swordplay if he wants to become a pirate.
Meathook
A bald man who was brutally handicapped by petting a parrot.
Otis
A prisoner who was jailed for picking flowers in the forest. A victim of society and halitosis.
Stan
A fidgety used-ship salesman who will do anything for a sale, except for stopping his persistent foot-tapping.
Herman Toothrot
A pirate who sailed to Monkey Island 20 years earlier, and has been stranded since. He wears no pants, and is the only one aware of the person outside the computer screen.
The Cannibals
I use the term loosely. These cannibals have converted to vegetarianism, and are very wary of consuming any red meat.
