RPG Maker 2000's FAQ 1.01 by Don Miguel & Pals (ALL q&a without the (c) name are mine 8-) actaully... i knows all answers... 21-06-2000 ------------------------------------ MESSAGE EVENT QUESTIONS: Q: Can I type the hero name in RM2k like "$1" in RM95+ ? A: Yes. Use "\N[x]" for it... replace "x" by the heroes Number. Q: Can I type a variable or a gold value also? A: Yep.. \V[x] for a Variable and \$ for the Gold value. Q: What about... some colores into messages? A: Use \C[x] , x = 1..9 (colour number) Q: RM2k ate all tailes of my messages!!!! What's wrong? A: Nothing. there's limit: 32 chars per 4 Lines... but you can add some special chars like \N[4],\C[2] etc.. to a line. But you must have only 32 printable chars or less. ------------------------------------- HOW TO PORT TRANSLATED SPELLS, ETC TO A NEW GAME: Q: If you kept your old game folder with the game you were working on and upgraded to the 1.03 final, you might notice that it seems some of the Magic animations still arnt translated, (in the event editor, Show Battle animation), maybe its just me, but I made a new game and all that was fixed. So if you think its still not translated, it really is. You just have to continue on or redo the whole thing. I also noticed that after I made a new Game/folder, and went back into the old game (from V1.02) the chipset block/pass stuff was screwed up, I readjusted it and have no probs switching from one to the other. A: okay... the clue: 1, create new game 2. go to Battleanimations and click at the first line... right click and choose "Multi Copy" 3. open your OLD game 4. go to Battleanimations and click at the first line... right click and choose "PASTE" you can use it everywhere!!! like for stealing cool animations from the RPG masters games like ... etc 8-) by Don Miguel ---------------- ALL REST QUESTIONS: Q&A: If you have the White Screen problem and don't have a joystick (which is required for the other solutions to this problem), you can easily fix the problem by simply going to System Properties (right-click My Computer, then choose Properties), then to the Device Manager tab. Expand the "Sound, video and game controllers" branch, then highlight "Gameport Joystick" and click Remove. That's all there is to it. NOTE: Windows may re-add the Gameport Joystick to your system when you reboot. If this happens, you'll have to remove it again to run RM2K. by Xythar Q:Full Screen testing just freezes my computer A:Get Direct X7 from download.com, maybe a new video card too Q:When I make my items to only work in battle, they won't work A:Try making'em so they work in both by not selecting any boxes Q:In the map options, I pick to enable to save, but I can't save A:For some reason, you have to pick Disable, it worked for me Q:How do I make a starting position? A:Go to events, right click the place you want to start at, and choose "Set Start Party position" Q:When I put an event on auto-start, the game freezes A:Put a switch at the end to make it stop when it's done by yeahpika ----- e-mail me all yours Q&A to bmv@mail.ru with subject: "Q&A" to Don Miguel
