Tokyo Xtreme Racer was below average at best. With the sequel about
to near with the revamped graphics this game started to become a looker.
Now with the game out it's a sight to behold at how amazing the graphics
are. The gameplay remains more of the same, but with better visuals,
the game seems a lot more enjoyable.
Graphics
The best part about this game are the car models. The only problem
is that they don't have the real life insignia's of the real cars. But
you can still make out what the cars models are. The reflections off
the cars are nice and the lights from the headlights look cool coming
off the road. I just wish the reflections were real-time instead of
just repeating itself. But it still looks good. The roads are really
dark. So there's not much to talk about, if anything at all. Most of the
roads look the same, but hey there's not really much to see at night.
Sound
Just the basics are here folks. The rumblings of engines and the
music while you're driving. They provide an adequate ring to your
ears. It's nothing mind blowing though.
Gameplay
This game focuses on challenging other racers on the road and if
you win you get respect. And sometimes the other drivers sweet ride.
If you survive for a long time, just be sure to buy a huge garage to
stockpile all your cars. There are also tracks to unlock in this game
as well as other cars. So you'll probably be busy finding everything
in the game. It's a real challenge to race the other cars since there is
also traffic you have to deal with. The game plays like Gran Turismo in
that the game is simulation. More driving means you'll only get better.
Overall
This is a pretty good game. If only there was 2-player incorporated
in this game the replay value would go up really high. At least the
A.I. in this game is fast and furious. You'll have your hands full
dealing with the better racers in the game.
