Shenmue 2: Mainland China
Players: 1
Genre: F.R.E.E.
Developer: AM2
Publisher: Sega
When the original Shenmue came out, it boasted it could be the only
game of it's kind to offer a living breathing world along with having
the lead character go as he pleases and do as he pleases. Shenmue had
a very ambitious beginning. When it came out the game did offer a
living breathing world but the main character, Ryo couldn't really do as he
pleased. The story was pretty linear. Then I learned this was a game
after all. But in actuality Shenmue offered a very unique gaming
experience that no other game before has tried before. And it did it
pretty damn well.
Now the sequel to Shenmue is almost readying release in Japan in September, and
November in the U.S. Shenmue 2 offers everything it's predecessor did
but times 10. The graphics are better textured and the faces of the
characters are even more detailed. There's also more interactivity with
the characters. Now you can get to choose 4 different things to say and
each will probably result in a different answer. Just that adds more
depth to Shenmue 2's gaming experience. The surroundings are even bigger
with more areas to explore. Four in fact. One being a rundown harbor, another
a small Chinese community, and lush forest and a city with huge worn-out
buildings. With all of these enhancements, Shenmue 2 should bring the magic
once again.
