Port Enoch

Port Enoch is one of the first cities to be established in Western Guiness as a place to rest sailors making long journeys across the ocean. Human sailors and pirates often fought over control of Enoch as it was seen as a key location for naval control. Eventually, as Guiness became an stronger empire, Enoch’s purpose switched to importing crops to the western cities whose farmland was quite poor. Natural resources such as lumber, coal, and gold were shipped out of Guiness to other countries.

Today, Port Enoch is still the most important port in Guiness. While better farming has decreased the need for imported food, the rich population of Guiness loves fancy imported things and Enoch is the place to find them. Also, adventurers can find many different weapons and any kind of equipment at the merchant shops and ports in Enoch. The rich like to live in the luxurious uptown area and the poor like to steal from the crowded marketplaces making a very class-based and rather happy community.

Enoch at a glance

Enoch is a major center of commerce as well as a "tourist" center. The rich make trips to into the city for shopping and adventurers stop by looking for boats to go on far-away quests. Due to the constant influx of people from varied races, cultures, and beliefs, Enoch has become an extremely liberal community. People are usually accepted before they are distrusted, even though the majority of Enoch’s population is human. Many people view the port as the "world’s crossroads" as everything coming from another continent has to make a stop in the city.

The 5 Major Groups of People in Port Enoch

1) The Rich - This group categorizes all the people who have a large sum of money, but never seem to work for it. The rich live in Enoch to enjoy the foreign goods and high class life. This is a very small group that doesn’t really hold much power, instead simply enjoying the small city life.
2) The Poor - This group preys upon all the other ones. They live in the streets, under boardwalk, and in the basements of seedy bars. This is also a very small group in Enoch.
3) The Merchants - This is the largest group in Port Enoch. They are normally wealthy as their access to foreign trade combined with a rich market makes their business ventures extremely profitable. The merchants can control the prices of any product as well as that products availability making them one of the most economically powerful groups anywhere. Most of the merchants who live in Enoch deal in overseas trade, though many also have money in overland caravans.
4) The Sailors - Although most of these people do not have permanent residence in Enoch, sailors are always present. Many crews have houses set up in Enoch and most expeditions make long stops when in the city. Sailors tend to dominate the bars in the area, but stay away from the more sophisticated parts of town.
5) Shopkeepers - Not much to be said. They own small buildings and comprise the middle class.

Enoch’s Characters/Locations

Warg/Minerva - Not a two people, but an establishment, Warg/Minerva is a relatively new adventurers guild that merged from the two guilds that comprise its name. Ongorth, the leader of Warg and current guildmaster, is the well liked Orcish hero of Enoch. From saving the city from pirate invasions to climbing trees to rescue stranded cats, Ongorth prides himself on finishing any commission the guild takes. Although his common is broken and his fighting talents questioned by more experienced warriors, his ability to produce and back up his claims by fulfilling commissions and always being around the people whenever he can keep his reputation is on the rise.

The other main guild member, Rayn, is also extremely popular. The young elf attempted to start a rival guild to WWAG in Falachion extremely close to the oppositions headquarters, but later decided to join Ongorth in Enoch. After the merging, the guild continues to do good things. Known for being an egotist, Rayn claims to be the worlds greatest archer and has often shown off this prowess in battle. Her most famous achievement is the slaying of Zippy at Fort Hinterland. Even with such a remarkable feat, she is best known throughout Guiness for her dazzling beauty.

The other guild-members of Warg/Minerva are known to change as death in battle and individual differences have taken effect upon the guild in its short history. Strangely, these incidents usually do not happen during commissions creating some suspicion that keeps guild membership down. Rayn’s attitude alone cost the guild the services of its most valuable warrior, Ash the pit fighter, though it is rumored that he decided to return recently.

Kylie, Grand Illusionist - A happy and enterprising wizard, Kylie owns the popular nightclub Illusion in the heart of Port Enoch’s mid-town. Being to much of a people person to live in a tower and research, as well as too much of a coward to become an adventurer, Kylie decided to use her art to entertain. She is an out-going person and a regular in town politics, leading the shop-keepers organization. Her shows are renowned all over and people come to dance, socialize and be shocked by life-like images of dragons, liches, and trolls partying with them on the dance floor.

Gilded Dragon Pub - Home of the Gilded Dragon Sea Clan, this bar is home to brawls, beer, and other such confusion. The Sea Clan is made up of the sailors of Gilded Dragon Shipping, one of the largest merchant companies around. Known for hiring pirates to eliminate competition and poisoning the food of other sailors, Sea Clan members are not good folk. Cel, the unofficial leader of Port Enoch’s Sea Clan is a rough, haughty man who enjoys cracking jokes that aren’t at all funny to anyone who looks at him. He is not at all attractive, but always has at least two women with him.

Port 15 - Shopping heaven for many, Port 15 is loaded with imported goods from all placed and of all sorts. Weapons, clothing, foods, jewelry, and spell components can all be bought at high prices here. Since this is the only place that these things can be bought and all are luxuries anyway, no one really complains.

The Church of Letermine, goddess of justice - The church serves as the main police force of Enoch. Morality is not an issue in their law. Everything revolves around a balance and the Eye-for-an-Eye concept is a general rule for solving disputes. Enoch does not have a prison. Anyone who would do an offense that would warrant their removal from society would either be killed or banished instead. The Church is located on Pier 16, right next to the shopping district as a way to deter the very prevalent crime in that area. Although it is mostly limited to robbery, smuggling, and pickpocketing, these crimes hurt merchants and when the merchants are hurt everyone feels it.

Away from the legal side of the church, the religion is not forced upon the residents at all, although it is a popular church considering most merchant simply want to have a place where they can sell goods peacefully and have just punishment for those that do take advantage of them. The church is heavily slanted towards the water and many of its rituals take full advantage of its proximity to the sea.

The church is led by Genevieve, a Soldier of Justice. A human, she has garnished a large amount of fame for herself in the past. Known for being both a great warrior and cold hearted, she serves justice equally to all and is seen a good leader, though many people fear her due to her lack of mercy.

Lefty’s Lucky Lute - The happy place to eat and drink. A restaurant not too expensive open 24 hours with good food and a bar. The working folk and some merchants often come here on nights off to carouse, for dates, or to have a hearty meal. Port 22-25 - The place to get yourself a boat to travel somewhere else in the world. A number of different companies. For a price sailors can be commissioned to find foreign items.

Port 2 - In the worst parts of the city, Port 2 is where addictions are fed and goods smuggled. Whoever is in charge of this area keeps their identity hidden, or no one is in charge of the area at all.
