SCENE 1: The Beginning
(Opens overlooking the town of Onett at night)
On Screen: The year in 199X
(The camera pans over the town slowly)
On Screen: Onett, a small town in Eagleland
(Camera reaches Ness’ house and fades out)
On Screen: This is the beginning…
(Camera zooms out and a loud whistling sound is heard, the meteor is seen streaking down to the hill behind Ness’ house.)
(Cut to Ness’ bedroom, Ness is woken by the thundering crash made by the comet, a bright flash is seen through the window.)
Ness: What in the world?
(Ness gets up and goes downstairs to find his mother walking around in a daze)
Mom: Oh, Ness! I see that the explosion woke you up too!
Ness: Yeah. Uh…Hey, Mom? Can I go and see what that was?
(Mom looks at Ness funny)
Mom: Don’t you think you should get dressed first?
Ness: (Grins) Yeah, Mom. I guess I should. Be right back!
(Ness runs upstairs. Cut to a few minutes later)
Ness: (Runs back downstairs with clothes on) Ok! I’m heading out! (Gives Mom a kiss on the cheek as he runs out the door)
Mom: Be careful, honey!
(Cut to Ness running towards the top of the hill. Stopped by Lier)
Lier: Hi, Ness! I see you’re here to see the meteor too! That was pretty scary! Good thing I eat garlic and work out or I’d probably have fainted!
Ness: (excited) It’s a meteor? Cool!
Lier: (Chuckles) Yep! Hey. Why don’t you check out my sign here? Making signs is my hobby!
(Ness looks at the sign, camera zooms in to the sign, which reads "Treasure hunter! This is Lier X. Agerate's house.")
Ness: Neat. Well, I’m gonna go look at the meteor now! Bye, Lier! (Waves goodbye)
Lier: Bye, Ness!
(Ness runs up to the police blockade that is set up just before the path to the meteor. Sees Pokey Minch bugging the cops)
Pokey: Hi, Ness! (Runs up to Ness) What’s up?
Ness: Hi, Pokey. I’m here to see the meteor.
Pokey: The cops have everything blocked off here. You can go home now, tomorrow, I will tell you all about the meteor!
Ness: Ok, Pokey. Goodnight!
(Ness walks away and Pokey resumes bugging the cops)
(Cut scene to later that night. Ness is back in bed. An annoying knocking from someone at the front door)
Ness: Ack! Who’s doing that?
(Ness walks out his door to the hallway. Sis is there)
Sis: (Irritable) Hey, Bro! Who would be making all that racket at this time of night? I’ve gotta get some sleep! I got work at Escargo Express tomorrow!
Ness: I don’t know. But I’m going to find out!
(Ness walks downstairs. Mom is walking around in a panic.)
Mom: Who in the world would be at the door at this hour? Ness! Go check it out, please!
Ness: (Walks to the door just as it bursts open. Pokey is there, looking frightened) Pokey! What’s wrong?
Pokey: Ness! My little brother, Picky is missing! You gotta help me find him! (See Mom) Oh. Hi, ma’am! (Snickering) You’re looking lovely as usual.
Ness: Ok, Pokey, I suppose I’ll help you. Just let me get some clothes on.
(Cut scene to Ness coming downstairs in normal clothes with his backpack and hat on)
Sis: (Running downstairs) Ness! Take my bat with you! It’s cracked, but should still help you! Be careful! (Hands Ness the bat)
Ness: Thanks, Sis! (Takes the bat) Well, Pokey, let’s go!
(Ness and Pokey leave. Cut scene to the top of the hill. The cops are gone and no one is around.)
(As Ness and Pokey near the top of the hill, Picky can be seen sleeping by a tree near the fallen meteor)
Pokey: Picky! (Runs up to Picky and whacks him on the head.) Why’d you run off like that?
Picky: Hey! That hurt! (Rubs his head) Besides, you were the one who ran off!
(Pokey blushes, then whacks Picky again)
Ness: Whoever ran off, let’s go now.
(As the trio starts to walk away from the meteor, a strange buzzing noise can be heard)
(A shaft of light falls upon the meteor and Buzz Buzz materializes out of the light.)
Buzz: (Flies over to the group) Who here is Ness?
Ness: (Steps forward, warily) I-I’m Ness. Who’re you?
Buzz: A bee I am…Not. My name is Buzz Buzz. I come from 10 years in the future. In the future, all is chaos. The universal cosmic destroyer, Giygas has taken over the Earth! But there is a legend. It says "When the chosen boy reaches the point, he will find the light. The passing of time will shatter the nightmare rock and will reveal the path of light." You are the chosen boy. The legend also says that 3 boys and a girl will destroy Giygas. You must remember that three things are of the utmost importance: wisdom, courage, and friendship. Let us go now, and begin your journey.
Pokey: Woah! That’s some story! I’m not one of those 3 boys, am I? ‘Cause I’M not into adventure and stuff like that.
(The group descends the hill. At the bottom, another shaft of light appears. Starman Jr. appears)
SM Jr.: You have escaped us so far, Buzz Buzz. But now you will pay for your treachery.
(The Starman Jr. shoots a fireball at the party. Buzz Buzz activates his PSI shield to protect them. Ness and Picky attack the Starman. Pokey cowers in fear.)
(The boys manage to destroy the Starman with Buzz Buzz’s help.)
Buzz: Whew! That was one of Giygas’ henchmen. From now on, you’ll have to face many dangerous creatures, animals, and even people that have been influenced by Giygas’ evil powers.
Pokey: Ness, we really need to be getting home. Our mom & dad are gonna be ticked!
Ness: (Rolls his eyes) Ok, Pokey. Let’s go to your house.
(The boys and Buzz walk to Pokey’s house. They go inside)
Lardna: (Angrily) Pokey! Picky! Where the sam hill have you boys been? You march straight up to your room now!
(Pokey and Picky run upstairs. Their father follows them and a loud crash is heard)
(Father comes back down.)
(Buzz Buzz flies over to Lardna to greet her)
Buzz: Hello. My name is-
Buzz Buzz’s introduction is cut short when Lardna screams)
Lardna: Aieeeeee! I think it’s a dung beetle! I’ll smash your guts out!
(Lardna grabs a newspaper and whacks Buzz Buzz to the ground.)
(Buzz Buzz, mortally wounded, calls Ness over.)
Buzz: I guess I was weaker than I thought…It is time for you to start your journey. To defeat Giygas, your own power must unite with the Earth’s. The earth will then channel your power and multiply it. You must visit eight points around the world called "Sanctuaries". Here, take this. (A stone appears beside Buzz Buzz) This sound stone will record the melodies from each of the Sanctuaries. You must go to Onett! The first Sanctuary is there! Goodbye. And good luck.
(Buzz Buzz dies and fades away. Ness brushes away a tear, picks up the sound stone, and leaves. It is dawn now, and the sun already brightens things up)
Ness: I’d better tell Mom what happened!
(Ness runs towards home and the scene fades out.)
