Timeline

1819 The city of Memphis, Tennessee is founded

1862 Union troops occupy the city

1864 April 12, Fort Pillow, Henning Tennessee The reported massacre of over a hundred black union soldiers by Confederate forces.

1865 April The Sultana Steamboat disaster. Some 1,700 returning Union Veterans died, just a few miles north of Memphis.

1867 Cholera hits Memphis. Followed by Yellow Fever later that same year.

1872 Yellow Fever returns to Memphis

1874 Yellow Fever hits Memphis again. Thousands die.

1900 Birth of the world famous adventurer/explorer Richard Halliburton in Brownsville, Tennessee

1935 January 8 Birth of Elvis Aaron Presley in Tupelo, Mississippi

1939 Richard Halliburton disappears at sea aboard the Sea Dragon

1961 First reports of Voodoo Village in South Memphis

1966 Increased sightings of the Pigman in Shelby Forest.

1968 Assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr

1977 August 16 Elvis Presley reportedly dies at home at Graceland in Memphis Tennessee, although alleged sightings of him will be reported for many years.

1983 There are growing reports of weird activity in Overton Park at night. The park has long been a popular meeting place for local Wiccans, but the latest events seem more sinister.

1984 Tragedy strikes at the Dupont Chemical Plant just north of Memphis, a massive Chemical explosion erupts, killing hundreds. Only the quick thinking of a Frayser man; Thomas Morgan Jr., kept many more from dying. The facility is shut-down by the government with all grounds labeled off-limits due to the remaining Bio-Hazards that leaked into the soil. A govenment spokesman says a total clean-up may take decades.

1986 A rare Siberian Winter Wolf escapes from it's cage at the Memphis Zoo, three people are killed and many others are injured before the beast is slain by local authorities.

1987 Four teenagers reportedly out looking for the Crying Angel Ghost, disappear without a trace.

1989 First public records of the charitable organization known as the T.H.O.T.H. Foundation.

1990 Several unrelated sightings, are reported, of mysterious black helicopters in rural areas of Tipton and Shelby County.

1991 The Pyramid Arena is completed. Shortly afterward completion a cleaning worker finds a crystal skull in the upper apex of the pyramid. Remains found near the Airport indicating the presence of a Cannibalistic Serial Killer in Memphis, the killer is never apprehended.

1992 Members of the Aryan Nation break into a warehouse in Memphis and attempt to steal several Artifacts from Nazi Germany that were being stored there. Apparently the artifacts were to be part of a special "Wonders Exhibit" for Nazi Germany, the local Jewish Community is outraged. However, according to a local paper ; Memphis Afterdark, the Aryans were not involved at all, the paper claims that the artifacts were in fact taken/stolen by a secret government agency, the paper provided no credible evidence to support this theory. A series of grisly cattle mutilations occur near Tupelo Mississippi, Occult activity is suspected Amid growing economic and financial difficulties Mud Island is closed to the public.

1993 Grisly Occult Murders discovered in West Memphis. While the perpetrators are captured, evidence indicates a much larger cult may be at work behind the scenes, although no further investigation of this occurs.

1994 Rocked by scandal and reports of Pedophilia Christian Brothers College is forced to close its doors. Most of the stories are later proven to have been hoaxes but the truth is revealed too late to save the College. Mud Island is turned into a Maximum Security Prison including a controversial ward for the Criminally Insane.

1995 The Cannibal Serial Killer strikes again, he actually never stopped, hundreds of gnawed human bones are found in a shallow grave in a field in Frayser. The Killer continues to elude authorities.

1996 Due to lack of funding Lichterman Nature Center is closed. It quickly becomes an overgrown shambles.

1998 Weird lights are reported coming from the top of the Pyramid at night. City Officials disregard the reports claiming they are the results of concert light shows or optical illusions.

1999 Reports of large numbers of bats and rats in and around what was once Lichterman Nature Center. Some vague reports of black helicopters spotted in and around the Shelby Forest area.

2000 Several high ranking gang leaders throughout the city are killed, assassin style, Gang warfare erupts throughout the city. The perpetrator(s) is never apprehended.

2002 Summer - A bombing of the Downtown Forensics building nearly destroys the facility. The City's Chief Medical Examiner is found ritually bound in barbed wire and covered in weird religious symbols, as well as, having a bomb strapped to him. The Bomb Squad diffuses the bomb. No suspect is ever arrested.

Please note the Campaign setting of Dark Memphis is a work of fiction, while many of the events detailed are based on true historical events, it is not meant to be a true historical account of the City of Memphis. It is solely the result of the disturbed mind of William Wood.
