Hogan Handles Huntsville
By: Hogan Motorsports PR
April 13, 2003- Jason Hogan (20) of Cleveland
Georgia headed to the ¼ mile Huntsville speedway with one thing in mind and
that was to win the event and win it big.
And that he did. In previous
races at the famed Huntsville speedway Jason has always been extremely fast, in
fact Jason owns the Southern-Allstars track record at the ¼ speed plant. There would be no track records broken this
weekend, but Jason put together a good qualifying effort to place his #92
Universal Chevrolet, JasonHogan.com Monte Carlo in the 3rd starting
position. 3rd was not bad
though as for the mandatory roll of the dice by the pole sitter to determine
how many cars would invert put Jason on the pole position for the 200 lap event.
The event got started and Jason took
no time at all to put his car in front of the field and take off from the
field. Jason looked very strong at the
start of the race as it had all day long, and Jason looked as if he was really
going to be a contender to win the event.
Jason worked traffic perfectly and had great restarts all night long to
keep anyone in the field from mounting any serious challenges at all. As the race went on Jason’s car stayed fast
and never seemed to fall off the pace any at all. That lead crew chief Jimmy Hogan to tell Jason to stay on the
speedway when others where pitting for tires.
That strategy played out well as Jason and one other driver did not pit
for tires, and the guys with new tires had too much traffic to work threw for
them to be affective.
Jason held on to lead all 200 laps of
the event and take his 4th Southern-Allstars career victory and
first of the season.
Jason said; “What a great way to start
off this season. We had a 2nd
place finish at the Rattler in March, and now to come here and get a win in our
second event of the season is awesome.
Look for us to be strong in all the Southern-Allstars events we enter
this season, as well as a strong contender for the 2003 Kodak Southeast Series
Championship.”
Jason’s next event will be the season
opener for the Kodak Southeast Series at Greenville Pickens (SC) Speedway.
