Indictment returned in Genado case

EDNA - A Genado woman who allegedly shot her husband in the back after arguing the morning of Feb. 27 has been charged in a three-count grand jury indictment here with murder, voluntary manslaughter, and involuntary manslaughter.
Officials say Cynthia Ann Zeller, 30, shot her husband, John Milton Zeller, Sr., in the lower back with a .22-caliber rifle after they quarreled. They report that he threatened to burn up their vehicle, and was on his way outside.
The shooting occurred at about 6:30 a.m. at the couple’s residence about two miles south of the intersection of Texas Highway 111 and 172.
According to the official report of the incident, after being shot, Zeller went back into the house and laid on the bed to wait for an ambulance to take him to the hospital. His wife called the ambulance.
In a statement to authorities, Cynthia Ann Zeller admitted firing the fatal shot, but claimed to have had no idea that the rifle was loaded.
The victim successfully underwent surgery and appeared headed to recovery when he unexpectedly succumbed to complications arising from a blood clot, according to authorities.
