4. August Carl Albrecht

RELIGION: Lutheran
Carl immigrated on April 1, 1892 from Bremen, Germany and arrived in Baltimore, MD on April 15, 1892. He is said to have had a problem with the German Military while trying to leave Germany, and according to one story he was once already on a ship heading away from Germany when a German naval vessel flagged down the ship he was on, boarded it, asked for him by name, and took him off the ship. He was finally able to leave Bremen, Germany on April 1, 1892 on the vessel Aldenburg, and reached Baltimore 2 weeks later. From there he made his way to the DeSmet, SD area where he worked for Fred Gehm, Sr. for 3 years. Then he farmed south of DeSmet until his health failed him in 1931, he had to retire, and moved in with his daughter Wilhelmine for the last 15 years of his life. He is said to have suffered from Alzheimer's Disease.

Augusta Johanna Klick

According to the book De Smet: Yesterday and Today, Augusta, who was a cousin of Ernestine Eick, was working for some wealthy Jews in New York City when she started corresponding with Ferdinand Albrecht. Ferdinand sent her a ticket and she came out to South Dakota in 1884.
