Biography: Johanne came to the De Smet area in 1903 with her son Herman Eick and family, and is mentioned in the centenial book by the Lutheran Church of De Smet as Johanna Eick. Her obituary appeared in the 29 Sept 1911 edition of the De Smet News in the local news section, and reads as follows: "Mrs. Dorothy Eick, aged 72, a native of Germany, died Tuesday last at the home of her son, Herman Eick, in Mathews Twnsp. The funeral was held yesterday at the Lutheran Church in De Smet. Mrs. August Albrecht is a daughter of deceased."
