Slim Jim All Pro

Super Late Model

Beginnings

In 1995, Bob and Cheryl Najor contacted Scott Carlson to see if he would drive their newly acquired Late Model stock car.  They witnessed his 1994 championship season at Mobile International Speedway and felt Scott has what it takes to be a true contender.

Their first challenge together was Five Flags Speedway's Snowball Derby in December 1995.  Five years and about 40 races later, the promising 2000 season begins with venturing into NASCAR's Slim Jim All Pro series.

As often the case with new race teams, Advance Racing struggled the first year with engine failures and learning how to run "endurance" races.  Winning the Mobile International Speedway's  1994 Late Model Championship meant winning "shoot-out" type features - 25 laps of hard racing.

But changing to JHE's motor program and adopting the old racing phrase "to finish first, first you have to finish", the team became competitive.  At Mobile International Speedway, Scott won the ESAB 100, Cooley Barnett 100, and two other special 100-lap features.  While there were no wins in 1999, in 11 starts Advance Racing had 1 DNF, with the remaining finishes within the top 4!  Check our Racing Statistics.

Since the team is limited to two full-time maintenance personnel (Scott and Vic),
the Slim Jim All Pro schedule will be limited to:

  • Homestead, Miami Speedway (qualified 3rd, finished 10th, transmission problems)

  • USA International Speedway, Lakeland, FL (April 29)

  • Memphis Motorsports Park

  • Kentucky Speedway

  • Montgomery Motor Speedway

  • Nashville Speedway USA

  • Nashville Speedway USA - All American 400 (Televised)

The team will also run special features at
Pensacola's Five Flags Speedway
Mobile International Speedway
and some
Southern All Stars races

See Ya In the Pits!
