Humble Beginnings
In October 1989 God Spoke to both Sheila and Ron about raising up a Restoration Ministry for those wounded and hurting from their religious experiences. The ministry began in an apartment living room at Crystal Lake (Macon). One Year Later the work grew and was forced to move to Wesleyan Drive where it met in a Closed in Garage for the next 5 years. In February 1995 the Counseling Center opened in the Powell's home and In June 1995 The Church moved into a mansion On Ridge Avenue where it remained for a one year Period.
In June of 1996 the Church moved into a leased 3 story building at 530 First Street. The Building was Purchased in January 2000 and the Restoration of the building began. Since 1989, Our Father's House has ministered to over 15,000 hurting Middle Georgians.
In April of 2002, the Church was re-organized and moved due to Local zoning ordinances which disallowed the feeding of homeless people within the tourism district of Macon. The ministry was re-named Crosswinds Christian Center and sought to find property suitable to build a community based multi-purposed facility. The Church Families and leadership took Temporary housing at 1602 Elberta Road in Warner Robins Georgia until December 1st, 2003, when it moved to Suite 707, 127 Peachtree Pkwy in Byron, Georgia. This is the present location for it's central teachings. Although home groups comprise the body of work which Crosswinds does we continue to gather the groups for Central teachings each week.
An Eye on the Future
Crosswinds is raising up a generation of ministers to reach the World in the 21st Century. Primarily through small servant teams overseen by servant team leaders.
Our Call
Our Call is to restore the New Testament Church pattern which comprised homes which broke bread together and met to encourage each other in a central location.
Daily,
Counselees receive much needed counsel to put their lives back on track.
Weekly,
Outreach Ministers search the Highways and Bi-ways for the poor and homeless. Feeding the needy both spiritually and physically.
Weekly, Home groups, Servant teams, Central teachings, and Sunday Seminary Services provide opportunities for a faith lift.
Monthly,
Communications workshops allow the Community to improve their relationships and better understand their God given emotions.
Our Mandate
Our mandate is to train leaders and plant satellite works all through the state of Georgia and around the World. Crosswinds is not a large Church organization with cell ministries , but many cell ministries with a Central teaching site. Please stop in and visit our Central teaching Site at Suite 707, 127 Peachtree Pkwy, Byron, Georgia if you are in the Middle Georgia area.
A Place to Be, A Place to Belong, A place to grow,
Crosswinds.
