Chapter Twelve: Making the Video
"With the outfits you have, you’re just going to have to make it work. And take a step to the left, dancers. And the extras look happier and be more like couples! Go again." Nigel shouted.
The music started to play over the speakers over the set. With Lana lip-synching the words, the dancers were dancing in the background. The music stopped and the dancers left the set. The music started back up and Lana got into her solo dance. The dance ended.
"Hey MTV. We just finished shooting the dance scene and its 4 in the afternoon and we still have to shoot the beach scene today. So I gotta go grab some lunch before we shoot that so . . . bye!" Lana says cheerfully into the camera.
Everyone took a half hour and grabbed some food and then it was already time to hit the next set.
"K, now everyone with this scene, Lana’s going to be walking down the beach and seeing the happy couples walking by her. K? Now, action!" Nigel shouts out the directions.
Lana took off her coat and stepped on the sand and started to walk. She lip-synched the words and her eyes were actually watering as she looked at the happy couples walk by, hand in hand. She stopped to look out at the sunset that was taking place and then kept walking.
"Great!!! Cut."
"Hey guys!! We’re done for the day and tomorrow we shoot the cameo scene. I have no clue who the cameo will be but, I’m sure Nigel will pick out someone great for the part. See ya tomorrow!" Lana talked to the camera.
The next day . . .
Lana hugged Nigel as she got on the set. She noticed Brian sitting next to him.
"Brian, how are you? What have you been doing with your break?"
"Nothing just hanging with the guys and talked to Sam a lot. How’s your video coming?"
"Great, we’re doing the cameo scene today and I don’t know who he is."
"Well, I’m sure he’s a great looking guy."
"Yeah, I guess."
"Lana, here’s your outfit so change and then we’ll introduce you to your cameo."
Lana slipped into her turtleneck and vest, and she was wearing a pair of jeans. She walked out to the set. Today’s set was a carnival scene with a all of the extras walking around on the set. She loved this set, it made her feel relaxed. When she was in her spot she saw Brian come up to her.
He smiled at her and said "I told you he was great looking."
She looked around and seeing no one else, turned back to him. She laughed. "You?"
"Yeah, when I heard Nigel was looking for a cameo for your video, I couldn’t pass it up."
She giggled saying "Really?"
"Yeah" he said shyly looking down at the floor.
"Okay, guys, act like a couple and be the lovely-dovey kind. Let me see what you’ve got." Nigel said.
The music started to play and Lana looked over at Brian. She smiled at him and then looked behind him to one of the carnival games.
"Win me a prize?" She said.
"Sure I’ll try."
They walked over to the game and Brian took a ball. He threw it at the old-fashion milk jugs and knocked them all down. Lana looked around at the couples while Brian pick one out. He took her hand and walked away.
"Where’s your prize?" she asked him noticing that he didn’t have a prize.
"I already have what I want.", his eyes were so blue, so soft, so caring. He lifted his hand to her face. His hand gently touched her check and then he moved his hand gently to the side of her neck so his thumb rested in front of her ear. He tilted his head and gave her puppy eyes. She smiled and looked down, blushing. When she looked back up she saw he was blushing too. His eyes met her’s once more and she knew then that he was going to kiss her. He leaned in and took her lips in his. His lips were warm and soft, and kissing him felt good.
She backed away and took his hand and started to run over to the ferris wheel. She got in an empty seat and Brian got in next to her. He put his hand around her as she put her head on his shoulder. The ferris wheel started to spin and they got taken up higher.
‘I wish this moment would never end.’ Lana thought. Soon the music had stopped and they were back near the ground. Lana was soon taken to another set were she was to have a sleep over with her friends. She got into her pajamas and soon the dancers, who were playing her friends, were next to her in their sleeping bags. They had popcorn and a TV that was on to give effect. The music once again filled the room and the girls were giggling and talking while Lana sang her words for the camera. Soon Nigel got everybody’s attention.
"That a wrap on Alana’s "Being With You" video. Thank you everybody."
"Yay, thanks everyone. You all did great." Lana shouted to the crew and extras.
"Lana, I saw that Brian was your cameo! What happened?"
"Well, we were a couple right? Well, he kinda won me a prize, and we kissed and we went on the ferris wheel and . . . ."
"Wait back up. You kissed?"
"Yeah."
"Awesome. I’m so jealous. Was it nice?"
"Yeah, it was really. He’s good at it. Did you like being in a video?"
"Yes, I loved it! Make another one!!" Sam joked.
"Gladly," she dreamily said as her mind wandered back to her kiss with Brian.
"Well I guess we should go back to the bus and try to get some sleep before our flight to New York."
"Yeah, I guess."
