Difference Between Love and Hate- Part 3
After a few more minutes, we left the cemetary and Mary drove us to a small restaurant called Myra Jean's. She said hi to a few people she knew, even hugged some.
When we finished eating, Mary drove us back to Tally, to the Seminole Inn (really a Best Western) and got a room for the night.
Once in the room, she looked at me.
"You didn't bring any other clothes, did you."
I shook my head.
"Well, we could swing by Wal Mart. But we'd have to do it tomorrow, I think they're closed now."
I shrugged my shoulders. "It's no big deal, really. I'll just sleep in my boxers and wear these home. It's not like I'm meeting anyone important tomorrow."
She grinned slightly. "Whatever you wanna do."
She pulled some clothes from her backpack and went into the bathroom to change. I, meanwhile, took off my pants and shirt and got into my bed.
Mary came out a minute later, putting her hair up, but looked at me and stopped short.
"Please, tell me you have something on," she said warily. I grabbed the edge of the sheets and she held up a hand.
"Don't... show me, just tell me."
"Yeah," I said, hiding a smile. She finished with her hair, giving me a sidelong glance. I just smiled at her.
"You're weird," she murmured as she got in her bed, turing the light off.
"So are you."
"Shut up."
When I woke up the next morning, Mary was apparently already up, on account of her empty bed and the running shower.
I pulled my pants on as the shower was turned off. I sat on the edge of my bed and watched her come out a few minutes later.
She glanced at me and raised her eyebrow.
"What were you expecting, a show?"
I laughed. "No."
"Uh huh, sure." She grinned as she sat down on the edge of her bed and began putting her shoes and socks on.
I rolled my eyes and pulled my shirt on.
"If we ever have to share a room again, I'm doing climate control," I said as I slipped my shoes on. She looked up at me.
"Why?"
"I about froze my ass off last night!"
"It's not my fault you wanted to sleep naked."
"I was not sleeping naked!"
"Yes, you were!"
"No, I wasn't!"
"Yes, you were!"
"How do you know?"
"I looked."
"You what?!"
She giggled. "I'm kidding!"
"Ah! You're too weird!"
She fell back on her bed, laughing. "You- you should've seen your face!" she gasped, then continued laughing.
I stood up and started tickling her. She shrieked, her eyes widening.
"Ah, no, stop!" she exclaimed, giggling. Somehow she flipped me off her onto the floor and sat on me, holding my arms.
"Last night: boxers or buff?"
"Boxers."
"I'll take your word for it." She grinned and stood up.
"Need help?" she asked. I shook my head and stood up.
She drove me back to her house so I could get my car.
"Go ahead, I'm gonna make a quick phone call," Mary said, pulling her phone out. I nodded.
"Alright, see you later."
I left her and headed for home.
I walked in the door at 3:00 and was greeted by the ringing phone.
I snatched it up.
"Hello."
"Good God, where have you been?" Brian's moderately pissed voice said.
"I took a little trip."
"Where the hell to?"
"Doesn't matter. What do you want?"
He sighed. "We have a meeting in an hour. Where's Mary?"
"Probably at home. You gonna call her?"
"I don't know her number. I guess I'll just call her manager."
"You do that."
"Bye, Kev," he sighed.
"Bye." I hung up, then went to go take a shower and get in some clean clothes.
*Me*
My manager had left a message on my answering machine I found out when I walked in the door at 3:15.
"Meeting at 4, be there."
I ate something and changed my shirt.
I got to the meeting at five after, same time as Kevin.
"God, you two are joined at the hip, aren't you?" Brian said. Nick smirked.
"I don't think 'hip' is the right body part," he muttered. I flicked him off.
"No thanks, I've had way better offers."
"Like I'd wanna sleep with you."
Brian cleared his throat loudly. "Anyways!"
I sat down between Kevin and Brian, Nick, AJ and Howie across from us.
"Okay, personal matters out of the way, we start this tour a week from tomorrow. Friday," he added. "Next Friday... you know what I mean."
I couldn't help but grin.
"We kick off in Ft. Lauderdale. Mary's set is..."
Brian looked at me.
"45 minutes. Roughly."
"Hers is roughly 45 minutes, ours is roughly 2 hours. Most of the shows start at 7:30." He paused. "Ish."
I looked at him and we made eye contact briefly.
"This tour isn't over until late December. Then we start our world tour and drop Mary as our opening act."
"Yay, don't I feel special," I said sarcastically.
"Sorry," he said, shrugging his shoulders. I rolled my eyes and sat back in my chair.
"Due to time and budget contraints, the six of us are sharing a bus," Brian continued.
"What?!" Nick, Kevin and I all said in unison.
"Hey! Ain't nothin' we can do about it. Deal." He glanced pointedly at me, then Nick.
"We don't have to share a dressing room, too, do we?" I snapped, crossing my arms over my chest and giving Brian a look.
"*No*," he replied, matching my look. I sighed and glanced at Kevin. He smiled gently at me.
