Later that afternoon, I was up in my little writing tree, staring up at the clouds moving across the sky. It looked like it was gonna rain again.
"Knock knock, can I come up?"
I glanced down. "Hey, sweetheart. Yeah, sure, if there's room."
"Of course there's room," he said, climbing up beside me. I laughed slightly and sat up. Kev made himself comfortable, then pulled me back down and wrapped his arms around me. I settled against him and looked up at him.
"You like it here?"
He nodded. "Definitely. We can come back here every anniversary."
"Yeah. No big parties. Just us."
He nodded again and I kissed him.
"What do we do if it starts raining?" I asked him.
"Stay here. There's a cover thingy on here somewhere."
I laughed. "Or we get wet."
"Or that." He grinned at me and I ran my nails across his stomach. He laughed softly and his tummy moved. I grinned and kissed his belly button.
"You're a tease," he murmured.
"I know." I smiled up at him. "You know you like."
"Of course I do."
I kissed him softly as thunder rumbled.
"Normal people would consider their honeymoon ruined if it rained constantly."
"But we're not normal people. Besides, I really wouldn't care anyway. I hate the ocean, especially swimming in it."
"That's why you never dated Nick, right?"
I gave Kev a look and poked him. He jumped, laughing.
"Sorry, sorry."
There was a flash of lightning, more thunder, and it started to rain.
"If I'm gonna get wet, I don't want my clothes stickin' to me." I pulled my tank top off, then my shorts.
"Comfortable?" Kev asked, a big smile on his face. I grinned at him.
"Oh yeah. Are you?"
"Yeah, just move- there," he said, moving me a little. I crossed my arms over his chest and he rubbed my back lightly.
"I love you," he murmured.
"I love you, too." I rubbed his chest lightly with my nails, then kissed where I rubbed.
"This is a forever deal, right? You're never leaving me, right?"
He smiled and made a cross over his chest.
"I promise."
"Good." I rested my head on his chest and looked out at the trees around us. The rain was cool and soothing on my back. Mixed with Kevin's touch, I got sleepy.
Kevin
Mary fell asleep on me, curling her legs up a little. She always fell asleep when it rained, no matter where she was. She could sleep at photo or video shoots, so as it was raining.
I closed my eyes and just let the rain fall on me. It felt good.
I pulled Mary closer, kissed the top of her head, then fell asleep.
When I woke up, it had stopped raining. Mary was stroking my chest with her nails, so I guessed she was awake. Her hair was drying and starting to curl. I ran my fingers through it carefully, undoing some small knots.
"Look at sunset, Kev," she murmured. I raised my eyes and looked at the sky.
The sun was low and large, glowing orange and red, very deep colors. The sky around it was a deep red and gradually lightened further up. The ocean sparkled; it looked almost as if someone had spread glitter across the water's surface.
"Isn't it beautiful?"
I nodded, tightening my arms around her waist.
"This is a lot better than Orlando, huh," I whispered. She nodded.
"Way better."
This was all too perfect. Maybe I was dreaming. I could pinch myself.
"If this is a dream, I don't wanna wake up," I murmured absently. Mary looked at me.
"What?"
I smiled. "Nothing." I kissed her lips softly, then her neck. "I love you."
She smiled back at me. "I love you, too."

When we went back home a week later, we both felt a little spoiled. It wasn't the luxury of having an island to yourself. It was having the time to lay out at night and be able to look at the stars as late as we wanted and not worry about getting up early the next morning for an interview or something.
"You turned brown," Denise said when we went to get Christina. I laughed.
"She's a regular chameleon," Kev said, picking up Christina's bag. I rolled my eyes and took Christina from Denise.
"Hey, sweetie," I cooed at her, smiling. She giggled and I kissed her cheek.
"How was she?"
"Perfect. Way better than AJ." Denise grinned and I laughed.
"You two are so mean to him," Kevin said, shifting his position some. I raised an eyebrow.
"You weren't a perfect kid either, according to Ann."
He blushed. "Okay, I'll keep my two cents worth to myself."
"Good."
Denise and I talked a bit, until the baby started to get impatient. And Christina got a little fussy, too.
