An Introduction from RedArwing
As a former leader of an EB Club, I know that they can be a blast as well as a hassle. It was a golden era when everyone was inspired to start a club, and I don’t think that any other game got this kind of online Community recognition.

What most people forget to remember is that it’s not just about the game. It’s about the people, it’s about the newsletters, it’s about the discussions, the trivia, the polls, the websites, and the meetings. Everything that was a part of the club was a part of the community, and there was so much involved that it was almost too much to handle. Who had the time to be a member of some 15 Online clubs? I can distinctly remember sending out invitations to join Moonside and receiving replies along the lines of “Sorry, I’m already in like 5 of these things.” Now, I wish there were more clubs and to any of you who have one: I will readily join. The only last great, recently active club I can think of now is the EarthBound Gang, arguably the greatest Online EarthBound Club ever. In early 1999, a lot of the clubs started dying out. I know that mine began to slow down, only to be restarted in the fall of 99’, and again in the summer of 00’. But as a whole, the EB clubs were never restarted, which is a shame, because some of them were downright fun.

I bring you this site to record the memories and the media involved in this great dynasty. So many clubs never even recruited more than 20 members, while only a few grew to the mass like that of the Sharks and The EB Gang. With this site, every club that I could think of (with the help of others) is mentioned somewhere. I provided all the information I could find for the clubs, and if you have something to provide, PLEASE tell me. This site aims to be the defining source for your informatic needs, and I need your help for that. I was not a member of all the clubs, so if you can think of one, let me know. If you can think of someone who was a good contributor to any clubs, and an important figure in the scene, let me know. IF YOU HAVE ANY OLD NEWSLETTERS, SEND THEM TO ME. Everything is welcome.

Here in the site you will find a listing of clubs and their leaders, a list of prominent figures and pioneers, a timeline documenting the history of the clubs, an archive newsletters and updates, and input from former leaders and people who were around to witness the event.

In finishing this site, even though it will never be finished, I need to thank all those who ever helped me with my club and this page. Special thanks goes out to Cueball4ever who orginally came up with the idea for The History. Thanks to kwalka, who supported me throughout my club’s run, and assisted me when I lost AOL. Thanks to Matingly22/HaRdCoReMaTiNgLy, who inspired me to create Moonside and introduced me to the club scene with the Mr. Saturn Gang.
