State of South Carolina, 6 April 1835 between William D. Sloan Esquire Sheriff of Pickens District of the one part and Moses Hendricks of the District aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that whereas BENJAMIN ROPER deceased was in his lifetime and at the time of his death lawfully and rightfully seized and possessed in some other good and lawful estate of inheritance to him and his heirs two certain pieces parcel and tracts of land containing two hundred and forty three and a half acres on the waters of Saluda River and the said BENJ ROPER died intestate or it is said and whereas upon the death of the said BENJAMIN ROPER the said plantation or tract of land above mentioned and to be herein after distributed to JOHN H. ROPER, MEREDITH ROPER, AARON ROPER, JACOB ROPER, JOEL H. KEITH in right of his wife MARY, RACHEL WARD, SARAH ROPER, KEZIAH ROPER, NANCY ROPER, BENJAMIN ROPER, SOLOMAN ROPER, SUSAN ROPER and the widow SUSAN ROPER and whereas JOHN H. ROPER did on or anout the 6th day of August 1832 applied to the court for division of real estate all these two certain pieces parcels and tracts of land containing two hundred and forty three and a half acres lying on a branch of the Oolonay Waters of Saluda River both adj. on one survey for George Carr containing seventy five and a half acres surveyed to BENJ. ROPER the other tract containing one hundred and sixty eight acres and granted to Samuel Hand adj. lands of Timothy Fortner, Mary Keith and the said Moses Hendricks and Nicholas Latimer should be sold by the Sheriff of Pickens District on the first Monday in April--Moses Hendricks was the highest and last bidder for one hundred and eleven dollars.
