Liberty Baptist Church

On the 21st day og August, 1833, Rev. J. Reeves and William Manning, according to appointment, met at ASA JOHNSON'S in Lumpkin County -- 18 miles west of Gainesville for the purpose of organizing a Baptist Church. Rev. J. Reeves of Redland Church delivered an appropriate sermon after which Rev. J. Reeves was called to the chair, and William Manning from Shiloh Church acted as Clerk. The church was then organized with a membership of four males and two females; their names were BARTON LOVELESS, Morgan Coley, Osburn Haygood, Phillip Wade, ISABELLA LOVELESS and Catherine Wade.
