4)Family lore as told by Ray Harris....
Alexcander was a son of an only son. For reasons unknown, Alexander's father was separated from his family. Alexander and at least one sister were raised by their mother and later their maternal grandparents. Years after he became a young man, Alexander was reunited with his father.
When Alexander moved the family to Blount Co., Alabama from Georgia, he rode ahead on horseback to scout the trail. The rest of the family went by wagon, with Ary Jane driving one wagon and Henry Pleasant driving the other.
Alexander died in Blount Co., Alabama on November 30, 1864 from wounds and complications due to a fall from a horse he was trying to break. He is buried in Hopewell cemetery, Cullman, Cullman Co., Alabama.
