Over the last year, The Brood have been one of the most unified factions within the entire Federation. This gothic trio has constantly been, and every superstar has come to learn that if you mess with one member of The Brood, you'll soon have to face all of them. Throughout their tenure in the Federation, The Brood has seemingly been immune to all of the petty problems that have destroyed countless other factions……

Until now.

The first public sign of trouble within the Brood manifested itself at King of the Ring, where the team of Edge and Christian took on the Hardy Boyz in a match to determine the number one contenders for the Tag Team Championship. During the contest, Gangrel attempted to blind Jeff Hardy with a stream of his trademark viscous liquid, but instead, he wound up blinding Edge by mistake. Tensions briefly flared, but were apparently cooled post-haste.

Unfortunately, the troubles within The Brood continued the next night on RAW. After Edge saved one of the Godfather's hos from an attack by a vengeful Prince Albert, Gangrel was spotted in the rafters, looking on in apparent disgust. This fan-friendly by Edge follows on the heels of several weeks of hugely positive fan reactions to the Enigma…… a fact that certainly hasn't escaped Gangrel's notice.

Now the speculation has begun as to whether or not Gangrel and Edge are on the verge of going their separate ways. Fans should remember that Edge already has a history of distancing himself from The Brood. When Edge first entered into the Federation, he initially feuded with Gangrel and Christian. Eventually, the trio reunited, but we never learned why Edge broke away in the first place, further deepening the mystery that surrounds this dark group.

Insiders are also beginning to wonder what direction Christian will go, should the apparent problems between Gangrel and Edge continue. Although Christian has shown his loyalty to Gangrel time and time again, he is still Edge's brother…… meaning that we may soon see whether or not blood is thicker than "mysterious viscous fluid."

Whether or not this potential rift within The Brood ever actually becomes an issue remains to be seen. The gothic trio may just be playing mind games with all of us, and are right now laughing at our stupidity. Still, Gangrel has shown that he's not an individual to be crossed, and if Edge has fallen from his good graces…… well…… the enigma had better watch his back.
