At "Break Down" In Your House last September as Edge and Owen Hart battled in the squared circle what seemed to be an overzealous fan leapt over the ringside barrier. The stranger -- who bore an uncanny resemblance to "the enigma" -- silently stood at ringside as Edge stared on in shock. Capitalizing on the opportunity, Owen rolled up his foe from behind and scored the win. Just as quickly as the stranger had appeared, he vanished into the mass of humanity with Edge hot on his trail.
On a subsequent RAW, we discovered that the stranger's name was Christian, and he was in fact the younger brother of Edge! In another shocking turn of events in this macabre family saga, the newcomer then sided with Gangrel -- his brother's bitter rival! To the casual observer, there was an eerie sense that this connection had roots in another realm long before the trio entered the World Wrestling Federation.
Following the alliance, Edge confronted his sibling on RAW while Gangrel and Val Venis battled in the ring. As a result, he was brutalized for his efforts -- first by Gangrel, then by his own kin. After lashing into Edge, Christian and Gangrel left their foe nearly immobilized on the outside.
Following this attack, Christian made his in-ring debut at October's "Judgment Day" where he pulled off what many viewed as an upset over Japanese star Taka Michinoku. As Taka attempted to drop his foe in the Michinoku Driver, the newcomer reversed the move and scored the win to claim the Federation Light Heavyweight Championship! In the weeks that followed, Christian defended his title against "Too Sexy" Brian Christopher and other light heavyweights. No one expected what happened next, however, when Edge apparently chose to side with his enemies! During a match between Kane and Gangrel on RAW, "the enigma" emerged from the crowd and helped maul the Big Red Machine.
As the new year dawns, this mysterious trio's destiny is anyone's guess. It appears that the macabre brood – Christian in particular -- are the only ones with the answers to the questions!
