SOMEBODY CARES
By ... Steve Lucky
More than one person on more than one occasion
Has said that nobody cares.
This is not true and even if it was
Most things are not done to gain popularity.
One person or group of people
Should not try to speak for everyone.
Rarely does everyone agree about anything.
Disagreements are a sad, inevitable part of life.
Perhaps those saying nobody cares do not care themselves,
Which I dare say might very well
Be the source of the problem.
I care, even if no one else does,
About the lives and souls of my fellow human beings.
Small problems of concern to others do affect me
Because it affects someone near me.
People interact with each other all the time.
All problems are shared with everyone to varying degrees
No matter how small that connection might be.
Events of concern to my neighbors are my concern too.
Becoming desensitized to my neighbors, busy with their trivial problems
Will eventually densensitize me to more important issues
Like war, famine, and disease.
My personal actions while dealing with others
Reminds me that someone cares.
