SLITHERING
By ... Steve Lucky
Sometimes just moving around can be troublesome.
One who does not want to move
Has to because he or she has to be someplace
Within a certain amount of time.
Intense energy is needed
Just to find the courage to keep going
Despite how little progress is made
Even with the best effort put forth.
Results, even minuscule ones,
Are better than no results at all.
Close to the ground one realizes
How silly competition can be sometimes.
Personal bests are something anyone is capable of reaching.
Movement is measured in centimeters
So one has to decide carefully where to go.
Wrong turns will not be corrected for a long time.
Quick solutions can lead to trouble
Too great for one to overcome.
Vulnerable to all sorts of dangers,
One realizes how important a friend can be.
Being helpless but finding help
Is a memory that lasts a lifetime.
Everyone has times of very limited mobility
Whether they want to mention them or not.
People who come during these times
For the purpose of lending a helping hand
Can have the favor returned
At times when it is least expected.
Giving up should not be done.
Centimeter by centimeter, small movements are added to the greater whole.
