         HEARTBEAT
     By ... Steve Lucky

The rhymic, steady pace,
Lasting for a lifetime,
Often can not be heard.
Would be deafening sounds are contained
Safely inside the human body,
Yet the sound can still be heard
During times of intense activity,
Fear, or close examination.
Heard or not, the sound
Is a constant indicator
For life and good health.
This sound is not important
Only when it stops.
Life itself brings great meaning
To those other lives surrounding it.
Multiple heartbeats stay in tune
With the symphony of nature.
Every heartbeat is important.
