MEMORIES
By ... Steve Lucky
Knowledge of the past can hold one back
Or keep one focused on the right track.
Success and failure through the course of time,
Points to what one has to climb
In order to find common ground
With anyone else who happens to be around.
For success to continue and failure to halt,
One has to learn from every result.
Images from the past, barely within recognition,
Come back to mind thanks to subtle intuition.
Reoccurring similarities happen every now and then,
But no memory will ever happen again.
Memories from deep inside
Can be useful as a guild.
Whether they are painful or pleasant
They are no substitute for the present.
Action must be taken in the present day
Before all known memories fade away.
Even as distant memories fade,
Tomorrow's memories are being made.
