Precise to within the nearest millisecond,
The stopwatch is used to keep pace
With the needed precision for a modern race.
Needs for faster and faster time measurement beckoned
So the stopwatch was invented it is reckoned.
Accurate timing forces one to face
Victory or defeat in its proper place.
First is very different than second.
Much can happen in a small amount of time.
Differences between some events are minute
And they need to be recorded in the proper order.
People, while still in their prime,
Have senses that are more accute.
They race against the retirement border.
