INNOCENCE

A first grade boy joined a baseball game
Unaware that the people on the other team were cheating.
They were able to get away with it
Because no one dared to go up against them.
The little boy just wanted to play a game of baseball
And try his best to win.
When a pitch way over his head was called a strike,
He did what the older kids were afraid to do
By questioning the call.
The big kids tried to intimidate him,
But he would not stop insisting
The pitch was too high.
As other kids joined in the arguement,
He began to realize how the fifth graders
Had maintained control of the game.
They had destroyed his innocence.
