            FOR THE MOMENT

I am safe and secure, for the moment.
My job gives me enough of a steady income
To satisfy my basic needs of food, shelter, and entertainment.
None of this is pernament.
Everything can change in the blink of an eye.
Although I do not want my life
Dominated by worries that will probably never happen,
I should keep in mind things could be
Much worse than they are for the moment.

Little I seem able to do, for the moment,
As far as changing things on a global scale is concerned.
Writing a poem or a story
Or contributing an idea to a movie or TV show
Can give one a sense of accomplishment
But what different does it make outside the world of entertainment
And the people directly involved with it?
I still depend on my job
To maintain my current standard of living.
None of this needs to be pernament.
In the blink of an eye, it can all change.
My life should not be dominated
By dreams of success that will probably never happen.
However, I should keep in mind things could be
Much better than they are for the moment.
